I thought it was just sour grapes that I didn’t get the Alpine excitement if it had been Yuki or Williams on the podium I would have been more excited

I think that’s a fair comment about the differing approaches to drivers comments and it’s hard to be impartial but the level of criticism Lando gets is well off the charts compared to his actual level of driving i think fans are protective of him (and his baby face ) - he was a nob being arsey with the journalist asking about the wdc on Saturday but his comments about luck I don’t see as that bad - he’d have said the same if he’d benefitted from the red flag. Also if he’s said oh it was such a great drive from Max then he’s not a great competitor - Lewis congratulates max and he’s a legend - so there’s definitely double standards.

I’ve really warmed to Max this year and his drive yesterday was amazing. His protest against the swearing fine was amazing and frankly hilarious. Him moaning about being discriminated against as a white male in a white male dominated sport (world) however is whingy and quite frankly insulting to those who are genuinely discriminated against.

Anyway I’ve probably given that way too much thought … at least none of them are stroll eh?

i think it’s fair to say that lando gets fans who are more protective of him than others. i do find it interesting that he’s the one driver (even here sadly) that you cannot criticise, and i think that’s linked to him getting that sort of overprotectiveness from his fans. i’m maybe linking that to british media bias though. i don’t know if it’s true that he gets more hate or if it’s just on the same level (carlos was getting death threats last week because charles’ fans are insane. the mclaren comments were a cesspit about oscar for a time). sometimes drivers do speak out of turn! and as a fan sometimes you have to just go yeah you probably didn’t need to say that actually. the “luck” stuff was fine, i think it’s the talent stuff that came out wrong. likewise max probably meant the media comment against damon hill but it absolutely came out as a dig at lando. both of them maybe didn’t intend it to sound that way but we’ll never know

the way that clip makes it clear that he has a clear concrete path to follow and STILL goes onto the gravel (completely me this morning morning too)

TBF I could barely talk sense having sat and watched the race so its amazing they are coherent at all! No other sport makes their participants talk so much to the media so close to the action

Maaaan, this looks even worse for Lance. If you think mechanics worked hard on both cars and he did this at the formation lap...meanwhile Fernando finished the race even though he had such back pain he had trouble getting out of the car....

I see where you are coming from. And i agree that the "talent" part was not necessary. But the wave of hate, nasty comments and death threats he is receiving because of this is just out of proportions.
I don't think it's really fair to called out lando's fans for being overprotective of him when (in my opinion) Charles' fans are even worst for example (i might be biased i admit).
I think what annoyed me the most is the double standards that exists when it comes to Lando.
Charles made a mistake in Mexico yet i didn't see anyone calling him a bottler. Yet Lando get called that at every single occasion be it really his fault or not.
After the Mexico race there was a clip where you see Charles passing next to Carlos without giving him an handshake (i know it was an out of context clip). And people were praising him for being "a petty king", having a "champion mentality". When Lando was disappointed and not talking in a cool room (i don't remember which race it was) people were calling him a sore loser, arrogant twit with a too big ego...
And the list can go on and on.

At the end of the day, i think every fan of every driver are over protective of them.

I think the medias are also not helping the hate towards drivers (Lando, Max or anyone) by always creating clickbait headlines with no context to just create clicks and engagements.

I think Yukierre is totally safe, Baguettes have their day and podium that is lovely (or I would even say simply lovely to satisfy some Maxie fans here ) that is important in their personal story, but Yukierre is safe.

Lando is an angel! But also a massive idiot who's best talent is putting his foot in his mouth nearly every time he speaks. Obviously I love Lando, but I'm not ignorant to his flaws. Same as I don't like Max, but I'm not ignorant to his talent.

And as long as you don't all start making lustful comments about Fernando and Max without suitable compensation for me, I dont mind what I read here. I get that plenty of people here don't like Lando, but it's a shame you don't feel comfortable expressing said opinion, and you should be able to make reasonable criticisms of Lando, and any other driver.

I don’t think any Lando fans on here are like the obsessive fan girls on Twitter who can see no wrong and cry/witch at the slightest criticism (there’s clearly a lot of DTS fans who watch the sport like it’s love island ) and I don’t think there’s anyone on here who’s criticisms aren’t valid and voice them in a fair way. I love talking F1 and dissecting the drivers and hearing other peoples points of view even if we don’t agree

I actually never saw this thread as a "Lando thread", as many people posting here don't even like him
I love Lando but there are moments when he is being Little Lord Lando of course
(plus wag choice-but I won't mix wags thread into this because the threads did not have their podium reunion like Baguettes yet )

I personally am just annoyed that a lot of hate he gets (not here, online elsewhere) is also attacking and belittling his driving skills, there are people who even call him a fraud driver what is totally ridiculous to me in case of a driver 2nd in wdc.

They are all partially angels, partially spoiled divas, let's be honest. Even Lewis who is the biggest babygirl of them all and I love to call him that is not such a babygirl always and has a side that is super questionable to me with his fascination with celebs and some questionable acquaintances.
