either he (a) wants a seat on air max to get home or (b) mclaren pr told him to post that after his “luck not talent” comment that’s getting ripped apart everywhere 🤣

i don’t think their friendship is going to go back to how it was tbh (which is on max more than lando to be fair).

yeah i don’t think it was ever a “battle” really, however much people (media mainly) wanted it to be. i get that lando could have done it mathematically but the gap was just too far. it’s that painful thing of being almost close enough but also not far away enough.

I mean maybe Lando didn't word it very well, but it can certainly be true that Max drove very well and also be true that he got the luck of the red flag. Sure, he might still have won anyway even if he'd had to pit the same as everyone else, but who knows what would have gone down if he'd had to pass Lando and George on track to achieve that.

It's very frustrating all the knobs using this to tit on Lando. The gap was crazy given how the season started, and that it's even been this close at the tail end is a miracle. Next season with it being the last one on these regs and Newey not involved with RB at all...I am hopeful for next year. But I also think that Oscar knows what he needs to improve on now too and I fear (in terms of Lando's title hopes in the future) that if Oscar can iron out those mistakes from this season, he will be a very serious threat indeed. But yeah, the haters would have you think Lando had been leading the WDC at some point this season and has 'bottled it' - as someone who has heard this nonsense about their football team enough times, you can't bottle it if you were never top of the WDC standings (IMO).

Even if they go back to their little wars after few days (I hope not), they surely won't forget it because that track they were racing on as children together will probably have banners with pictures of that podium forever :LOL:

After couple of hours and after seeing that Lewis congratulated Max in the comments on Max's instagram I realised that all this crazy season needs to make it even more crazy is Brocedes reunion. Everything just points out to this because that is the most unimaginable thing and this season is made for things like that. so I hope Nico has his bags ready and he will attend one of remaining races to help destiny and get a hug from Lewis :LOL:

I don't think your opinion is particularly unpopular - I had never had Alpine podium on my mind until it turned out Sharl and Lando will not get one (not to mention Lewis) and it suddenly presented itself to be an opportunity for a cool story to focus on and not think about Max winning😅 it was suprisingly emotional and I love it for them and I think it is another cool story from this season. but it is not like it was my dream outcome until 10 laps or sth before the end 😆

I honestly totally don't get why Lando has so many haters, he is one of the least bluffing drivers there and it is not like the others are always saying things that are perfectly worded. He is also one of the drivers with the least beefs with other drivers so I don't know why so many people want to see him as no1 villain

I actually found Max's joke about UK press at the conference unnecessary and entitled, he won after great driving, there was no need to bring his delulu belief he is discriminated into this. He can be funny and sometimes even hilarious and I like it, but this time it was not it. So I am additionally mad that people twist Lando's words and take them out of context or call him whiny/childish when there was an example of more immature behaviour after the race that was even more personally directed

Lando’s fine for the start issue was half Charles’ full fine for swearing in the press conference last week 😳
The FIA have been pretty terrible even by their standards this week.

I do also think Max has earned the right to be a bit smug this week, that was one of his best ever races. People laughed at him when he said Lando was a genuine threat to the title and if McLaren got their tit together sooner, it would have been bang on.

2025 gonna be spicy and I can’t wait. Not that Lando is out of it yet, but it’s a long climb.

MotoGP this year has been the season of mistakes, the biggest one happened on Saturday and that may have sealed it for the winner, but he’s my fave so I’m happy, just the two week wait for that 😅

tbh and i get this will be unpopular too because this is a lando thread BUT it is interesting to me that two drivers made awkward comments/jokes but one of them (the current villain of the piece) gets sore loser winner! this is so like you! feedback while the other is a precious baby angel who gets his words taken out of context. they both didn’t need to say it and they were both personal with it (max with the joke, lando’s comment made sense but he didn’t need to say the “it’s not talent” at the end really).

i am sorry that lando sees those comments about himself but they all do. checo and esteban in particular have probably just blocked everything and left their socials to management now. it’s tougher for lando because he’s more ingrained with quadrant and stuff but he can step back online if this effects him.
