10/10 would smash
Seen a lot of stuff over on Twitter with folks who I believe are the boss/promoters of Indycar who didn't like Pato calling them out on missing the boat to expand the series to race in Mexico (as NASCAR have just done) and they tried to say Pato is not that famous. Queue journos, fans etc being like, erm, he is literally the most popular driver in the series right now and has multiple times more followers on social media than the current Indy champ and even the Indycar series itself.
How dare they tit on our Pato! Get the pitchforks folks, we ride at dawn!
Pato has more Insta followers than IndyCar does. He is bigger than the series. He's the only driver who does. I was actually reading an article about Pato the other day that was praising him for his efforts to boost IndyCar in Mexico, paying out of his own pocket to have it broadcast etc. He's active on socials and has a fan following unlike any other driver. He's the only driver to have a dedicated merch stand at every race. He tries a lot of different things to promote himself, his brand, IndyCar, mexican Motorsport, at great cost to himself.
And if there has been a mexican motor racing driver in the past who has been more famous, so what? Focus on the present and boosting yourself. IndyCar should be begging Pato for tips on how to do socials, and can engagement and promo etc. Nobody in IndyCar can do what Pato does in terms of fan engagement.
Oh they definitely put all their eggs into the Indy500 and everything else is an after thought. Even the whole production/broadcast, and the way a race weekend operates, how hard it is to understand schedules etc. It's amateurOh absolutely, the comments from Indycar persons seemed very much a 'we didn't like that you called us out on not being very good at our job of promoting/growing the series, so now we are going to dunk on you'....except of course everyone knows Pato what Pato has done, as you say, using his own money to promote and generally making more effort than Indy.
My parents don't usually watch but I was visiting them last weekend and they remarked how empty the stands looked in Portland and I saw something where apparently they are expecting only like 15,000 this weekend in Milwaukee. Like that is nuts! It feels rather like Indycar don't care about the other races, so long as the Indy500 has the spectacle it doesn't feel much like they are that bothered if elsewhere they are getting tit numbers through the gates.

I live in hope that one day he realises how fucked up Jos has behaved and distances himself.Another one here who feels for Max, I’d love to see him away from RB and their toxicity. I think he’s getting everything possible out of that car but the car’s not good enough atm.
Max always seems so dejected now, like his heart isn’t in F1, it wouldn’t be a surprise, his upbringing was always pointed at F1. I’d also love to see him away from Jos but can’t see that happening.
im just torn atm, I like seeing RB doing badly but not Max!
i want nico to join this thread (unless one of you is ALREADY him)

also which of you did this, i’m thinking it was @Platformcrocs
Nice of McLaren to allow Pato to go to Félix wedding
It feels so weird not to be in the depression gang for a change
