Ex Slimming World Disordered Eating Recovery #2 Underestimating Our Desire To Eat Pasta

I think I’m just bitter because I once made a filo fish pie that took about five hours, used every pan in the kitchen, and was complete tit.
Ahh its a pinch of lard creation (or twice as likely a creation of one of their fb group members)

'We've proven you don't need full fat milk and butter'

Yep! And scanbran 🤮

I never had a binge and purge issue until I joined SW - the pressure to get a loss each week was horrendous.

I was a comfortable size 12 but because I weighed 12stone (I’ve got disproportionately massive boobs) and was still in the overweight category, I was encouraged to lose another stone. I look back on the pics of myself, and I looked fantastic! But I remember constantly feeling not good enough because of the numbers on a scale.

I’m now much heavier after having a baby 8 months ago -the feeling of shame and guilt is still there, despite birthing a beautiful baby and being able to breastfeed. It really messes you up
If you've had a baby and breast fed your body has sustained and nourished another growing human. That's a big achievement 👏 I'm of the opinion that the mummy tummy never goes unless you're a lucky genetic freak. Sometimes I'm in an exercise class and I'll whine about mine and someone will say 'ah how old's the baby'. Bit awk when the answer's 18.

It was actually from the Slimming World magazine a few years back. That’s another one they’ve ripped off then!
They've never done anything original. Complete frauds who have conned 1000s into buying 'their' weightloss recipes, despite never creating an original recipe or losing an ounce of weight themselves.

I'm also of the mind that they secretly use butter and oil in the recipes when creating for their photos (alongside numorous filters) to make them look nicer.

If you zoom is on the filo fish fish pie photo it looks like their butter or oil in the sauce

Rigbt, after months of talking/thinking about it, I’m starting CC today.

Yesterday I was browsing the recipe section on the forum tab of the NC app, there was a recipe I thought sounded good (Crispy Chilli Beef) but when I clicked on the post it said they took the Pinch of Lard one and made it healthier. I opened it up anyway, lo and behold 300 different ingredients so I didn’t bother saving it.

It's been 5 years since I left slimming world. I've been doing calorie counting. But yesterday, I had a whole battle with my brain because I had a mcdonalds Breakfast roll and hash brown for breakfast.
I didn't even count calories all day because I'd got it into my head that that was it, I'd ruined the whole day, because on slimming world, that's over 20 syns.
I popped it in nutracheck today and it was only 623 calories.
But I just couldn't get out my head that it must be so high calories because it'd be over 20 syns! 😑
So annoyed that I let it ruin my day!

My most adventurous SW disappointment was 'Baltimore' crab cakes.

The image I found says seafood cakes, but it definitely used to say crab because the reason I tried was i'd always been intrigued by crab cakes getting mentioned in American films.

Who'd have thought trying them for the first time using a syn free SW recipe would be a bad idea?!

The recipe is tit. Despite following it to a T the mixture turned out too loose and did not bind. So instead of crab cakes which should look like this..

.....mine looked like the wet clumps of toilet paper you found stuck to the school toilet ceilings.

They were also, weirdly for so many ingredients, flavourless.

Still haven't had a crab cake, think this debacle put me off.

That description is hilarious though.

Did anyone ever try Salmon curry in a hurry? We hurried to put it in the bin 🤮

edit: Brooklyn Nine Nine is on the tv here and someone just said “grab a crab cake while you get the chance, real crab, big chunks”😂

Probably bland because they use tinned white crab meat. You can buy a mix of white and dark crab in the fresh section of supermarkets which has much more flavour. Also they’ve removed any flour to make it syn free, which is probably why they were sloppy. I don’t know who writes SW’s recipes but they are clueless.

In all honesty I couldn’t be arsed making this though. My fish cakes always turn out a bit tit and they never seem worth the effort! I’ve seen them on menus in seafood restaurants in the UK.

I swear one of the reasons you lose weight on SW is because you have to put so much effort in standing in the kitchen to create their recipes 🤣

Most ridiculous things have got to bee sun free gravy and ketchup.

Always found it funny how lamb meat is free considering how high in fat it is. Seen recipes calling for 5% lamb mince which is not a thing as far as I’m aware, the lowest I’ve ever seen is 10%!

Yes!!! It looked like actual vom 😂

Lamb mince isn't free, always been synned. Never seen a recipe calling for 5% lamb mince either, that's why their kebab recipes and moussaka use beef.

SW don't even have a shepherds pie recipe' only cottage, because of their aversion to lamb.

Now i've seen people on insta lie about getting 5% lamb from a supermarket (doesn't exist) or their butcher and then claim something they made with that mince is syn free
