They do that on purpose apparently

.

They also had a big lawsuit in America because of them purposely making noom hard to cancel, which they settled.

Nobody be fooled by their clever advertising, stay away.
Has anyone tried Noom?? I've heard good and bad reviews but want to hear from someone who has actually tried it!!
Noom is just a bad idea. When people start suing its bad news

Guess it depends, I see this page as discussing the issues with slimming world and how that has caused disordered eating. Which for me, is overeating and not knowing what good portion size is. I don’t see this thread as one devoted just to disordered eating.
I agree, going from SW to calorie counting is mind blowing in terms of learning how much a normal plate of food should be.

Jeez I just stumbled on the ozempic thread on here. Don’t want to offend anyone but it fills me with such rage. People saying they’re bypassing the chemists’ questions and lying on forms to get it. People saying they’re feeling sick, tired and having diahrrea but it’s great cos they’ve lost 4kg. Jesus, how is this being encouraged as a sustainable option? It’s just the latest lazy weight loss tool. Sorry, just needed to rant

Yeah its a about SW and disordered eating habits, but my concern is a lurker seeing who has issues with over eating due to SW seeing portion sizes getting mocked will be more reluctant to post.

Likewise someone who restricts due fear of syns from SW sees a large breakfast getting mocked are going to think they need to keep restricting or people will think they're greedy and what SW told them about bad food is right all along.

If someone wants to take the piss out of someone on insta who does SW the Slimmingworld #6 thread is the place.

Theres a big difference between 'this guys got issues with his portions' and 'wholly duck its falling off his plate'

I watched a video of Jaime Pageon YouTube who was on ozempic for months and she lists all of her side effects and she lost no weight at all. It’s sad but also nice to see someone in the “public eye” be so honest about the issues they have around their body image/weight/diet.

This page is such an eye opener. I never saw SW as cult and didn’t realise how bad it is. I’m currently a member having rejoined last year after 5 years away. First time I lost 2stone but looking back I was 3months post partum and exclusively breastfeeding so I expect most of the weight came off more to do with that. I stopped because my consultant was very overweight and couldn’t stand her telling other people off for eating the wrong food. I once got told off in front of the whole group that I’d should have syned my stewed rhubarb and I felt so embarrassed.
Anyway now I have 4stone to lose so I rejoined and this consultant is actually lovely and even admitted SW sausages are vile, but I don’t actually follow SW. I didn’t try to start with but most of the stuff makes no sense when I’ve cc on and off for years. Im calorie counting and using the sessions just to weigh because I can’t be accountable just to myself. However even though I see a lot of their rules are just bizarre on weigh in day I’ve got into a routine of barely eating and then having no food or drink 2 hours before weigh in and then binging afterwards.
I honestly didn’t realise how disordered this is!
I also agree a lot of their alternative recipes are just vile and take so long to make.

I’m glad someone is speaking up on Ozempic. It has worked for a lot of people, but I hate how it’s sold as some miracle cure with zero effort needed. There are way too many celebs promoting it, and it sounds like the side effects can be horrible.

On a facebook group for girls where I live there was a girl begging if anyone could get her the medication for her actual diabetes as there is a shortage because everyone is buying it for weight loss instead. I personally think people who resort to WLS or Ozempic etc need help with their relationship with food and why they are resorting to these things in the first place.

Totally agree, after working for the NHS and had a colleague/friend who underwent bariatric surgery when it was less common didn’t change her habits with food and gained her original weight back and some. She eventually got help that she needed, lost 5/6 stone and lives a happy and active life now. The issues around disordered eating, they absolutely need addressing first before surgery.

This is why usually when done on the NHS, they give counselling along side WLS.
But they don't usually get that when they go off to Turkey ect to have it done

I don’t think the NHS follow through it as well as they should, I’ve seen some examples of disordered eating that never got picked up or addressed. The ones who run out of patience with the process or get challenged on their eating habits via counselling usually just fly to Turkey.

Got an email from the District Manager in the area I used to live in advertising a payment plan to become a consultant. Apparently they are struggling (fairly rural area)

Did send a rather Karen-ish reply questioning why they still had my details on record. They did say they had emailed current and past members but surely they shouldn't be retaining former members' details?

Itll be 5 years since I left in September and I still get texts from my old consultant and post asking me to come back!

They can keep your data til you ask them to get rid of it. They can keep it “for as long as they need it”. They’ll be viewing all ex customers as a total goldmine for potential rejoining, unfortunately!
I thought they had to inform you that they still held your details so you could decide if you want them to retain your info and be contacted?

I bet the data isn't stored correctly either

So I’ve been having a cleanse of all my followers on Instagram, as I used to have a slimming world account which I stopped using for that purpose. I would say that 90% of the slimming world accounts I’ve unfollowed have had something along the lines of “restarting x date” or “serial slimming worlder” or “back at it again” or “x loss in 2018, back to lose it again” you get the drift. Only a handful of accounts were target members maintaining, they were pretty much all ones who have struggled and are “back on the wagon”. Yet people will still insist it works 🤔
