I think that was the best acting he has ever done on Emmerdale, Zoe Henry has just been on Lorraine saying the story is going to go on for a long time as they have taken lots of advice from Stroke Association and are going to do it correctly.

He's had a few other moments of excellence. He can do it when the writers give him stuff to do. They just don't give him the chance.

His character is so OTT with the arm waving they make him do and all that stuff, but when he gets chance to be a calmer and more measured Marlon he comes up with the goods.
Bet he's pleased to have something challenging to do
Go, Mark!
Horrible storyline but I'm sure he'll do it justice.

Not sure I can bear to watch though.
I need an escape from true life not a reminder of it, so, for my own mental health, I may have to avoid the bits about Marlon's stroke.

my mum had a mini stroke abt nine months ago and i think they've done this storyline justice so far! we had to wait two hrs for an ambulance so that was slightly unrealistic but i guess with hindsight hers wasn't as serious. she can hardly remember what happened but when they showed him in the mirror and looking at april said they got the blurred vision spot on. i know it'll be different aftercare as mum didn't need surgery etc but we haven't had any follow up for her stutter at all so definitely expecting the side effects to linger for years with his character!

I am sorry to hear that about your mum. I would check out the nice guidelines to see if the hospital is following the correct pathway of care. That doesn’t seem right at all

Emmerdale do issue-led storylines so well - Ashley dementia, Daniel's death, Zoe's schizophrenia, Holly's death to name a few. It's just the filler scenes and storylines in between that can be a little bit crap. They have done well with Marlon's stroke so far. Amelia (April) is a wonderful little actress.

Ashley’s dementia storyline, especially when he didn’t recognise anyone in the village had more of an effect on me than any Government video/leaflet
But this stroke storyline I find tedious ( sorry just my opinion) as I don’t like the character but I suppose if it raises awareness it’s something

I want escapism so I'm sorry everyone who works on the show to create stories for us to watch, but I have to fast forward this storyline.

I have seen people close to me suffer strokes and I dont want to relive it.
Can't handle it.

I understand what you are saying. I have actually just started watching Emmerdale again as was a big soap watcher, but haven't watched any for yrs until recently. I thought I would give Emmerdale a go again and was enjoying it, but this storyline has put me right off. If they do it properly it will last for months which is right in terms of reality, but doesn't make for great viewing especially for those like yourself with personal experience.. I might give it a go again another week when the storyline has died down a little... One thing with Emmerdale is they have quite a big cast so storylines do ebb and flow...

I have to keep fast forwarding Marlon's bits - it's so depressing! I can't cope with the bits where he is trying to speak and his throat keeps wobbling up and down. I actually have anxiety about focussing on adam's apples and throats so it's my idea of a nightmare! (apologies if this an accurate portrayal of some stroke sufferers but I just can't watch it)
I wish they had a jovial storyline to intersperse between these scenes - the whole of the last few days have been doom and gloom.

I find the stroke storyline so sad. I think emmerdale tends to do dramatic storylines like this really well but i am finding it triggering. None of the soaps ever seem to do anything funny/light and it can bog you down
