I agree with you completely that she’s not independent and Ginette and possibly her absent father is funding some of this. And while I do believe she does fake affiliate links and returns things to earn the affiliate income like the items from that Amazon video (she didn’t show any of the products!), she does seem to use and keep a lot of stuff as well.

This would only make sense if she had a large trust given her low income and probably zero income right now but we’ve seen her huge lifestyle changes without a man and Ginette’s Hawaii apartment is pretty sparsely decorated and looks pretty humble. G also doesn’t seem to spend a lot, and that strikes me as very odd if Elle had a large trust so the only reasonably explanation I can think of is that Elle is literally burning a massive hole into her mother’s savings and Ginette is too weak and loves her daughter too much to say no.

Ahhh, the "drop a few hundred dollars a day" era of Eleanor. Remember when she couldn't be bothered to wash her own hair? Dry Bar during her lunch hour! And what about that time she cheekily pointed out the smudges on her mirror while filming her OOTD -- just so she could mention that the cleaning lady was coming that day?

Do we think she cries in the shower nowadays while shampooing her hair? Oh, the struggle!

"You will rise through this hardship like you always, do, Elle. You're resilient." - Mum

$55K CAD ($44K USD), what Elle most likely was making is around $42K CAD after taxes, or $3,500 CAD/mo. The average 2BR apartment in Vancouver goes for $3,000 a month. If we’re assuming she paid half (LOL) when she lived with Joe, that would leave her with $2,000 each month. She would routinely spend hundreds of $$ a day during the Joe era, so she probably saw that $2K as all disposable, if not more. It only takes 10 days of $200 purchases (conservative; Elle was spending ~$400/day back then) to burn through that.

If I had time, I’d put together a pretty detailed balance sheet of her monthly cash flows. It would probably show that her net out was at least four to five times her net in.

So she claims she saved up for that car, huh? And that she’s saving up for a home purchase? We’re supposed to believe Elle Florence In Seattle is an independent 32yo #girlboss, hmm?
Wow I made more that that as a legal assistant with no prior experience (+ they paid my law school tuition when I decided to pursue that). I can't imagine a profession that requires certification would pay so little. I certainly spend nowhere near Elle either (not even on my lawyer salary). How in the world did she get these tastes?

Regardless of whomever or whatever is funding her lifestyle, there's something pathetic to me about being a 32-year-old, educated, privileged person and having no discernible goals, savings, career, or identity. It's been two years since she quit her job in Vancouver and she has spent that time eating pasta, watching Netflix, and shopping. Compare and contrast with Joe, and his girlfriend, who are both excelling in their careers and have full, dynamic lives.

Also, thank you for the warm welcome ladies! I've spent the past few months reading the entire Gurugossip site on Elle and the previous Tattle threads. Phew, what a journey! I found Elle in 2017 because I live in Vancouver and like watching local creators. After the Joe breakup she sort of fell off my radar but it's been fascinating reading about her life since then. Kudos on documenting everything because Elle has deleted a ton of content. It's like Joe and Rick never existed!

Just saw her latest story on Instagram and judging by the hair cut of the shadow she is definitely there with a guy.

Hehehe I LOVE that she can’t help but include hints, clues, and glimpses of “how happy she is” and “the love of her life” to continue trying to prove us wrong and herself wrong that she’s not desperate and pathetic. It ends up having the exact opposite effect. It’s a compulsion for her to show off how “fortunate” she is. The addictive, obsessive, compulsive nature of her actions really tickle me. I can’t turn my head away from the train wreck.

Here is the video where they go to Whistler for Elle's work retreat, Joe attempts to get her to do outdoor activities, and they film a ton of meals in fancy restaurants: https://we.tl/t-ccOF2l1gxY

The "can we eat now!?!" moment begins at 23:30. It's quite playful -- it's not like he snaps at her -- but I'm sure underneath he was tired of her constant filming on this trip.

A special highlight for me is at 11:25. It's Saturday and Joe is in the office working because they are taking Monday and Tuesday off work. Elle says they are both "working hard" since she has to go pick up a file she forgot at work and mail some packages at her favourite post office. How ridiculous to compare running errands on a Saturday to someone who is actually in the office doing work. No wonder Joe was turned off by her vapidness and fake worth ethic.

Thank you!

Hey, she does have a goal! Marrying rich 😂

I think she counted all of her leftover income after whatever bills (which it seems like Joe was paying for most of it, and when not with a man I think her mom was paying it to be honest) As spending money. I think her pearls and scarves were doing a lot better then too, so that was all spending money.

I wouldn't be surprised if she had zero savings. The beat up vintage chanel on her latest insta photo, and all the other ugly new stuff we've seen shows she hasn't slowed down on her shopping despite having a new car. I am convinced that if she doesn't find a rich enough man she's going to bankrupt her mom.

I'm 100% sure she has no savings. And that's probably the reason why she doesn't travel - it costs more than buying 5 cashmere sweaters and it isn't an instant gratification such as a lunchtime Nordstrom shopping.
To be fair if she only goes out for meals and shopping, there really is no point in traveling. Malls and luxury stores across the world are pretty similar.

When did she stop "announcing" the arrival of the newest guy on the vlogs/SM? After Rick? 😂 Because before him, she was pretty open about the other guys, she just didn't show their faces. I've honestly lost count. Is the Barbecue guy the same as the guy who made the Vlogmas soundtrack? And is he also SS/single father who dumped her after the cruise?

I find her Insta story including "Friyay" stupid considering she's on vacation pretty much 24/7 so why bother looking forward to Fridays? Isn't everyday a Friday for her? She hasn't worked a M-F, 8-5 job in ages.

Edited to add: Do you ever wonder how many of the "Dolls" are members of this site or frequent it for the gossip?

My thoughts exactly! In her mind, it’s better to accumulate more stuff than travel. She also seems like the type of person who cannot have money in their bank account, as in, whenever it starts to pile up (which is rare) she looks for something to “treat herself” to. The thought of saving money never crosses her mind because, after all, she has her mom and, in her mind, her future husband. I’m pretty sure she hardly contributed to the down payment on her car (“saving for it” means she didn’t go out to eat for two weeks, so Ginette saved a few hundred bucks). And money for a down payment on a house? Yeah right she has that! She’s the type of person who thinks $10,000 in a bank account is a lot. I don’t mean that in an offensive way to anyone. $10,000 is indeed a lot and most people don’t have that much. The thing is with her level of spending, $10,000 in savings is rather paltry. I’m also pretty sure she’s never worked out the numbers for how much she’ll need to put down for a house and what level of income she’ll need to qualify for the mortgage. She’s hoping Mr. Next will come first. What if he doesn’t, Elle? You need to prepare for that scenario, too.

If she keeps lowering her already low standards (must be male and must be willing to spend on her seem to be the only standards left), I’m sure she’ll eventually find a taker. We’ve seen her date pretty much any guy with a pulse at this point and she seems to let men do whatever they want with her as long as they’re willing to commit.

Yes I agree. Also, she’s never made finance- or business-related videos in an effort to dispel this. No, she thinks just saying “by the way, I’m not being supported by anyone to live in this townhouse.” is enough to cover her ass. (Cuz she’s OBVIOUSLY never lied before *cough* Seattle scam *cough*)

I believe she may have a higher bank balance whenever she releases a new scarf 'kulekshion' because her die hard Karen subbies get excited and want to buy the crappy pashminas to support her. That probably brings Smelle $3-4k profit within a week or two of the release. When she sees that in her account, she frantically looks for another bag to buy, makes the purchase, and then she's back to square one.

There is no way her mother doesn't subsidise her life. Even when Smelle had a full time job, she couldn't afford her own lifestyle. And it's not jealousy, it's maths. Even if you add affiliate links commission, scarves and pearl shilling, that's still not enough to pay for food, bills, rent on a downtown apartment, eating out, clothes from premium brands, shoes, bags from Chanel, YSL etc. She's like those teenage TikTokers who pretend they bought a $1M mansion because they made huge gains trading on Forex for six months but in reality the house belongs to their dad and they don't even know how Forex works 😂
