I saw rumours of speculation online that the new bar manager at the Albert that gave Ben an alibi is somehow related to Aidan Maguire, due to his keenness with Ben and the Irish accent. I doubt the writers are smart enough to make that link but if it’s true, I hope not. I couldn’t stand any of the Phil and Aidan stuff, it made for dire watching and even now when the police mention him it’s a snoozefest

I was wondering this too! Half the square seem to redecorate every time they move (Sharon, I’m looking at you and this endless pot of money you seem to suddenly have) and others have NEVER decorated!

Yes I think so! She was homeless just over a year ago and then had money for the gym - was it her dad? I can’t remember but she got money from somewhere as she bought all those treadmills that were on the lorry

realistically, how much more trauma can this show put on one character? it just turns into misery porn (reminds me of emmerdale and what they used to do with aaron).

it’s a brave and important storyline, but i swear this show forgets about all its other young male characters.

Yes Jay is long overdue a storyline, it would be nice if he got a look in for a change

I must admit I did think that Clair (Bernie) would have lost some weight in the 6 months she had off as it was the perfect opportunity to do a health overhaul, so I was surprised when she returned looking the same.

Nobody should be bullied for their appearance of course, but those in show business will always have their appearance scrutinised. That's always been that way and it won't change. Casting is mostly done on looks/appearance.

Spot on post Bullying is always wrong. The point I was making was the best way to get back at the awful people calling you fat would be to get in shape to show them. She's been off the screen for around half a year and if anything looks even bigger now. She's wasted a huge break in the show where she could have got in the best shape of her life. She's clearly not happy in her own body because the poor lass was really upset in her documentary. She's got to think of her long term health because she risks diabetes, fertility issues, enlarged liver and all sorts of other stuff. She doesn't want to reach middle age and be in a bad way and find herself regretting not looking after herself better when she was younger.

yep - it would have been a really worthy storyline for jay (and we know the actor would do an amazing job with it). there are so many younger male characters who haven’t had a storyline of their own for actual years (martin being another, vinny maybe).

from a writing pov too it makes no sense. ben has endless trauma piled on him, but he never moves forward from it. the show keeps him in a cycle of terrible event-trauma-discussion with phil or callum about how he’s never enough-back to the start. it’s just boring at this point.

He needs to leave Honey, work out where he works the car lot or funeral parlour (although doesn’t seem to work either at the moment) and get some juicy story lines (preferably that don’t include Ben)

I really liked Jay and Ruby together, they were both orphaned pretty young and it would be nice to see them start a family to build the stability that they never had.

i loved jay and ruby as a couple! like you say, similar backgrounds and i think they complemented each other really well. she gave jay a sense of drive and ambition, he chilled her out a little bit. the actors had decent chemistry too.

jay and honey make absolutely no sense, even without the whole ick of her having known him as a child in the mix. i always wanted jay and whitney together tbh - i think they both want stability and to set up a solid family unit.
