Bit controversial but i think the square is crying out for traditional family unit that we could get to know and care about and relate to.

The idea of a women and man fancying each other, dating then getting married and having 2/3 children is still very much alive and well in the real world but it's not represented at all really on the show.

I think a non divorced couple with their own biological kids coping with day to day family life would be just as appreciated by viewers as there are still lots out there and so much scope for storylines .

That's why I've never forgiven EE for what they did to Mick and Linda. They weren't perfect but they were the only example of a "normal" family unit where the family tree/connections didn't change every year.... once we got past the "my sister is actually my mum" stuff of course...

Am I right in thinking Whitney would have been pregnant before they said Zac’s viral load was undetectable? Conveniently skipped over. They seem to be very flippant when it comes to this HIV storyline. He would have probably slept with Lauren or Penny if they gave him a chance. You would think he would think twice when it comes to casual sex. Undetectable or not think it’s worth a discussion with the other person beforehand.

Totally agree this is exactly what’s needed! It annoys me that any stable couple / family they have it all goes wrong. Yes people have money struggles, bickering etc but it’s not realistic that there isn’t even 1stable family!

Well I guess that's because it makes for pretty dull viewing. It's a soap after all. And even the most stable of families, in my own family for example, have been wobbled by affairs etc.

And another thing, since we're having a moan about reality and portrayal, does no one own a cat or dog. If I were to think about friends there would only be a handful without even a budgie! (I say this, sat here WFH, surrounded by my 4 cats.)

I didn't like what they did to the Masoods while we're on the subject! I can see how a stable family/marriage might be boring in soapland but like others said the IVF storyline would make sense for that and there are other dramas outside of affairs.

Even a look at the reality of trying to get on the property ladder for a young family, there’s loads of stories.

They should have families that stay together. They've destroyed so many families over the years and it's just not realistic that everyone is a single parent.

They can write friendships that remain interesting, they can write family groups that stick together so why can't they write a couple that stays together?

I was saying this to my bf a few weeks ago Dave the cat is probably in heaven by now, there was abis dog that she ran over (I think?) And the poor dog lucas brought on a walk and never returned because he kept sniffing around the place where Owen was buried. There will never be another wellard though

This is why the surprise pregnancy was so stupid. Undetectable or not, you’d be beyond careful with a partner with HIV, coupled with the fact that Shitney didn’t want another baby.

I'd like to see Kat and Phil back together too. I'd rather that than he ends up back with Sharon.

It's weird that George always confides in Cindy rather than Elaine, its almost as if he still thinks of her as his wife They seem better suited as a couple than with their current partners. He'd lose the pub if he split with Elaine though, so I'd have George marry Elaine and then she could die shortly afterwards.
