Eastenders friendship groups are like the ones you have in work where you’ve got like a 48 year old work bestie. They need more young people, Im pretty sure they could branch out, there’s supposed to be a high school etc nearby why do none of the kids set foot in the square, and the colleges etc. is it an exclusion zone or something?

I think it would have been more interesting for someone like Jack or Mitch to have the HIV storyline.
Not bleeping Alfie obviously but someone a bit older, with a history of promiscuity.
I'm not sure why they are going down the shared needles for steroid use path - seems far-fetched.

Having HIV isn't really as much of a story now as it was back in the 80s. Of course it must be awful having to live with it in real life but in soapland this means that Zac will face some prejudice and fall out for a short while then it will all be forgotten about.

I think that's the point though, you don't need to be a textbook drug addiction to contract HIV. It will be forgotten about in a month anyway.

Perhaps they are targeting the Zak storyline with the steroids & shared needles as it’s an area that needs awareness bringing to it? People do inject steroids & they have worked with the Terrence Higgins trust on the storyline.

That’s what I’m thinking as well. Because usually when anyone mentions hiv from sharing needles they think of heroin addicts, so it would be more realistic to think Zack looked at Brett like clean, healthy, PT etc and just thought nah he won’t have anything, whereas no one would share a needle with an addict
