Have you seen in the media that Zak’s upcoming storyline is him finding out he is HIV positive. Hope it’s well written. Very important storyline for them to cover given the advance in treatment / medical knowledge since the Mark Fowler AIDS storyline.
I think they’ll get this one right, they are working in conjunction with The Terrence Higgins Trust (as they did with Mark Fowler’s story some 30 years ago). There is still no cure for HIV but with the right medications it is well managed, properly assessed and medicated you will no longer pass the virus on and the condition will not affect the length of your life.

so what will happen here with Zac getting a HIV diagnosis I know it’s come on leaps and bounds since Mark Fowler days but surely there’s still a huge risk to both mother and baby? Got to feel for Whitney, finally got a little bit of happiness and now this.

not really so much of a spoiler more a question

While it's well-known that a mother can pass HIV to her child during pregnancy and childbirth, transmission from father to child is very rare

babies can be kept safe from it through having a c section and not being breast fed, I didn't know this until very recently so hopefully they mention stuff like this as there is still a lot people don't know. Public understanding has definitely come so far since Mark but things have changed/ people still don't know all the facts. I don't know the direction they will be going regarding Whitney but i'm interested to see what happens. I think the storyline will be starting this week as in todays episode (not really a spoiler but) he saw someone walking past and looked a bit suprised/confused/stress so I think that's the Brett character (he was far away so not 100%)

who is Brett? Is he a former partner to someone with HIV who was a former partner to Zack, or just a long lost friend and bearer of bad news?

i don't think it's been revealed just 'a face from the past'
