I think about the actors from Louis' doc where he goes to New York to meet Broadway performers. Louis even auditioned for a musical in it (and Craig Revel Horwood was one of the judges).

There was one hopeful actor who seemed to be a really nice guy, and he spent a lot of time in the gym (think he even worked there whilst he auditioned for stuff). He gave Louis some acting tips and showed Louis various headshots he'd had taken to suit different types of characters.

There was also a blonde girl who worked for the actors agency, who gave Louis some advice too. She was very friendly and bubbly.

I remember a series on channel 4 called our last summer and there was a few people on there who had terminal cancer and sadly other illnesses, they all became good friends there was junior,Andy, lou jayne and im sure there was another person too. Everyone had sadly passed but last time i read lou was still alive and doing okay.
Below is the youtube link

I watched a documentary called protecting our children. It’s filmed in Bristol based on social workers. You get too see the lives of families who are being investigated by the social workers, some of the lives the children live are so sad! All of them ended up in care & it was so interesting but heartbreaking to watch at the same time.

I haven’t stopped thinking about them. The ‘parents’ are a absolute disgrace! It’s a 3 part documentary, if you want to watch it the first episode is on daily motion and the other two are on YouTube. It’s sad but so worth the watch!

I only watched this very recently or one of them. There was a lady called Marva who was pregnant and had a very aggressive partner and both had substance misuse issues. Would love to know how they turned out.

And another woman who had recently given birth but had drug issues. She met a man, who had just come out of jail and they wanted to raise the baby together. She had an older one too, who her mum cared for. Anyway her mum took the new baby too and at the end she was pregnant again. Very, very sad.

Can anyone remember a Louis Theroux about 20 (!) years ago where he followed a British woman trying to make it in the US porn industry? She ended up as a warm up girl, giving blow jobs before the camera started. One scene stuck with me - she met some sort of honcho guy for an audition and they were talking then he just started having sex with her without any discussion at all.

I think the one you mean was filmed by Nick Broomfield. He’s a one man band does the filming sound all by himself. I remember that clip it was shocking.

Did anyone else watch Ibiza Uncovered back in the nineties? I was 20 when the series was shown, so a very similar age to most of the young people featured on there, and I often wonder what they all have done with their lives after their summer of clubbing/bar work/18-30s repping.

yess and the other, more family friendly series on the BBC just called Holiday Reps. Used to be on of a Thursday night and there was a girl in it who married a fit Spanish barman and it inspired me to apply for rep jobs when I was old enough 😂 ended up being an air hostess instead as I also loved the first series of Airline in 1998- the first series wasn’t Easyet but Britannia and had these 2 jack the lads on who just wanted to be crew to cop off with passengers, a gay bloke called BJ who lived with his mum, a checkin staff who got stood up at Palma airport and more funny characters. I always wonder what happened to them all!

Blackfish - it honestly stayed with me at how cruel sea world and other places are like that - changed the way I think forever.

A Child of our time - I grew up with it and I remember the little girl who’s mum died - found it fascinating how they showed psychology and growth.

Love and Drugs on the street & Sex, Drugs and Murder on BBC3 were so hard hitting. I hope the older lady who used to look after them is ok and the woman who used to own her own salon.

Louis Theroux - the pedophile one in America, I remember one of them begging for a castration as he didn’t want to act on his impulses anymore.
Also the Westboro Baptist Church ones

Does anyone remember How to Die Simons Choice on BBC? That made me sob when he played the recording to his wife when he was about to be euthanised.

Benefits Street - I remember a lady called Julie had a heavily disabled son and her dedication and love for him was beautiful. I remember her trying to make Christmas really special for him.

Supersize Super Me - turns out the geezer was basically an alcoholic and his test isn’t accurate as alcohol may have caused an issue with his health instead.

Amy - so sad to watch her be exploited by her dad to make money.

The Kalief Browder Story - introduced to it this year and I can’t get over how badly that poor boy was treated and what they did to him

On a less serious note - Wife Swap, Brat Camp (loved this so much! They also broke) and The Worlds Strictest Parents were great TV

I loved that series of Airline! BJ was such a legend wasn’t he. Loved Holiday Reps too; I think there was an update on it a few years later and Caroline, the rep with blonde curly hair, had married a pilot.

I have watched all of these ! I always wait at the of ambulance etc that I watch now I get so invested to see updates and people doing well

I love a good documentary so I have found my people here

I think about Child of Our Time a lot apparently there was an episode in March the last one but I missed it and can’t find it anywhere!

also like many of us I think a lot about the people featured in a Louis Theroux docs - what I like is there seems to be a duty of care from him and his team and they stay In Touch

I love Child of Our Time.
I often wonder what happened to the little boy James. His mum had learning difficulties and they had quite a deprived background. They’ve not been on the updates for years. I hope he turned out ok because he didn’t have a great start in life.
It was also sad about Parys who took his own life last year.

I would never visit Sea World or any other place like it, more so after watching that documentary. It’s no wonder animals like Tilikum become frustrated and aggressive with humans, the way they’re treated and forced to spend their entire lives in captivity. It’s very sad.
