Dahlia Beach

Gosh this is a blow along with being banned from the shows as well isn’t it. If the whole sale field is thriving why isn’t she doing the London markets again? And what about the mail order flowers? And what is the wholesale field actually for if neither of those?

Because she doesn’t want to be an actual florist, selling flowers as a market trader. She never has. She just wants to be a ‘social media boss babe kween’ and doesn’t have a clue what being an actual farmer/florist entails. It was Eve doing all the actual farm work last year whilst she dicked around lipsyncing and forming her cult of middle aged floral dress wearers. Throwing so much money into merchandise and the stupid bus instead of paying workers properly to establish an actual credible flower business.

What a joy to find this thread, I’ve been following Dahlia Beach for since the beginning. What a tit show. It only seems to be getting worse.
I saw her at Malvern in the spring. Her stall was a mess and she wasn’t interested in real customers. Just her insta gang.
as for the over priced collections, do what I did, find the names of the ones you want then buy from else where for a couple of £ each.
noticed her husband hasn’t been around for a few weeks, wonder if he’s off filming with Kirsty and the gang to pay the bills?

As predicted, back to the usual pattern of ‘something catastrophic has happened, I’ll go away on holiday and then come back to see if it’s been fixed or gone away’
Wish I could have a holiday every time something went tits up at work! I’m not going to feel too sorry for her if she can still afford a holiday, in school summer holiday time, and take time away from the business!

Looks like there’s quite a few who’ve been sent the wrong tubers. People commenting there’s are wrong too What an amateur !!

She did say her husband had picked up some freelance work to help pay the bills because I doubt they are making money from the Dahlia's

She’s such a crappy entitled person, fancy whinging about farm equipment being in the way when it’s not even your farm?? And then saying the farmer shouldn’t be having a day off and should come and move it, especially when she goes on holidays and mini breaks every two seconds??

I love that she posted on insta how much she hated the yellow Dahlia and no one agreed with her.

She is an insufferable twit. He husband at least seems sensible.

Imagine trying to grow a business and then saying this morning she was going to have to get Sibley’s to sell her flowers for her on Sunday at the flower market because she wasn’t going to spend her son’s birthday at a flower market. She‘s trying to keep a business afloat, she could have had the party after school today and pulled out all the shops to get the flowers to market and sold or arranged someone to run her stall.

I'm not a small business owner. I know birthdays are important (I wouldn't say they come above EVERYTHING though!).
I am unable to just take off work on my kids' birthdays. In fact, last month I was working away over my son's 3rd birthday, so we just moved his birthday a week. I think an 11yo would understand.

For someone who claims to work so hard and be so invested, she sure does have a lot of time off!

Of course her son’s birthday is important BUT she knows September is an important month for dahlia sales. She would have known that today would have been a peak day to sell the flowers. She could have picked weekday in August for her son’s birthday party and then had a small celebration on his actual birthday, enabling her to run a market stall, rather than having to make some sort of financial arrangement with Sibley’s so they would sell her flowers for her.

Her fields seem to be awash with dahlias now and the ones that are currently in bloom will be past their best in a few days - such a waste and missed opportunity - she seems to have no clear plan on how to sell the flowers.

She should really get help with planning her business - so many ideas and promoting them that don‘t come to fruition - her dahlia flower installation created by local florists, her subscription boxes, last year it was a free packet of dahlia seeds with the first 1,000 orders, wasn’t there a post too about her buying an van that she was going to sell ice-creams from (maybe that was a joke post), etc.

Instead of all these ideas, some of which could be viable but better parked until she has established her core business area, she should concentrate on getting her fields established, a proper plan on how to sell the flowers rather than winging it and sorting out her dahlia tuber box sales so all customers get the tubers they ordered. She could also look at sowing a few rows of daffodils and tulips that could provide a winter income.

I don’t think she ever really expected to be doing any hard graft herself after the initial set up. The concept is good, and could be with proper business planning, fairly paid staff in proper roles, and structure, but she won’t listen to anyone who offers sensible suggestions. She wants the dahlia field (hard work done by others of course) as a backdrop for her instagram twattery to get her into TV. Now reality has hit, and her husband is still having to work away, I can see her ‘pivoting’.

100% this! Everything is done with IG in mind which is a fickle enough place as it is. I’m seeing the trend of Dahlias dipping now in favour of frothy, more simplistic flowers for stylish arrangements, and spring bulbs and ‘bulb lasagnes’ are becoming trendy also.
That’s not to say that Dahlias are in anyway not beautiful, they will continue to be grown of course, but her business relies solely on these flowers that were a trend 2-3 years ago, will they still be as popular in 5, even 2 years time? Including the story of her journey? It will soon become repetitive and people will grow bored of her ‘the dahlias didn’t bloom in time I have to cancel’ if it carries on year in year out. What TV show is going to want that? Unless it’s dramatic reality tv 🙄

I simply cannot see her becoming a huge business like Farmer Gracy, the amount of planning that goes in to their business is insane, plus they invest in new varieties and don’t cater just for their own tastes (yellow flower reaction as an example).

Re TV, I think she wants to get into presenting, last year the way she was filming (not the silly lip sync reels) in the PYO field was very much that style and she was lapping up the fangirl comments about being the next Gardeners World presenter and tagging them, the bbc, Monty Don etc.

If she ever had any hope in that area (as much of a twit as I think she is, she can be good on camera when not acting up) then she has bulldozed it by showing how flaky and unmanageable she is.

The most Andie can ever hope for would be a ‘viewers garden’ segment on Gardeners World! The presenters and gardeners on the show are talented, highly educated and experienced horticulturalists. You wouldn’t get Carol Klein crying into the camera that she’d fucked up growing something - again. Dream on Andie. She needs to stick to flouncing around on Instagram in her #gifted #muthahood #floraldress with an idiotic #dinnerplatedahlia headband. Silly woman.
