Dahlia Beach

I notice she put #adhdproblems on her last post. Has she actually been diagnosed with ADHD or just decided she has it? I remember her deciding she probably had it before hiring that PA (who seems to have vanished) but haven’t seen anything about her actually getting a diagnosis.
It winds me up, people casually throwing around terms like ADHD and OCD and diminishing the experiences of people who actually do live with them.

Last I remember she decided not to pursue a diagnosis because she had enough people suggest she has it to bother. Plus it is her superpower so what can they tell her that she doesn't know?

I wonder if the PA is gone for good, or just focusing on her wedding flower business during high wedding season. She seemed like a member of the DB cult when she joined...

She has watched a load of tik tok videos so that's her diagnosis confirmed! 😏

*This really bothers me too. I am quite scatty, work better under pressure, have an appalling attention span and have to run to burn off energy but I don't have ADHD nor would I go for a diagnosis. We live in a short attention span world where so much is at your finger tips and it's easy to get distracted- all of which is exaggerated by social media, where most of the influencers spend a load of time.....
I work with children who have genuine diagnosis of ADHD and it isn't a fun quirky thing it's a challenge everyday. This bunch are not helping, they suggest it should be manageable and make you a quirky go getter rather than a genuine daily challenge.
Same for OCD.

So she is looking to franchise the business?! I’m not sure what to say
That would be the WORST business to buy into in this economy plus climate change. Farmers are struggling to get insurance because the high likelihood of crop failure. All the problems she’s had over that last year are a consequence of extreme weather events. Anyone who buys that is a fool.

I would be nervous for anyone becoming a franchisee of DB. It is so weather dependent and chances are, a few seasons wonder. Anyone considering it would be better to set up their own flower field, start small, pick your own as well as selling flowers locally and also to florists. Growing more than dahlias which has a short season and are a trendy flower at the moment which will be replaced by something else shortly.

Paying a fee to a very new established company to use their logo, some marketing and pr advice and having to buy the tubers from her would be a recipe for disaster.

Exactly this. What is there to franchise, even? It's not even like she grows amazing dahlias from seed - doesn't she buy tubers from abroad? Also if DB takes a cut of the profit from franchisees, the profit anyone makes would be so tight as it is already

Yet another company asking professionals to work for ‘exposure’, and the florists in the comments are falling for it 🙄
Working hours on a huge installation that’s going in Millets, not to mention cutting the dahlias yourself, only for Andie to be jumping around like a flea shoving a camera in your face and then using your work all over her socials and most likely in future campaigns… Get paid for your time people!! If you have a skill you are worth money not just exposure on someone else’s platform! Your time is valuable and you are worth financial compensation for skills you worked years to develop and spent lots of your own money on!
This is such a tit deal for anyone else but Andie but her sheep are just too stupid to see it.

She's posted pictures with arm fulls of flowers but online it doesn't look like the farm I open yet 🤔..the weather has been so bad I can't imagine she has crops yet ?

Glad to see I’m not the only one! I actually bought from her last year then got annoyed over her use of unpaid labour/favours and unfollowed. At the time, i thought I was the only one so did a google and found that glassdoor reviews of her previous business had a bunch of employees/interns saying how she was basically overusing them, underpaying, never doing any work herself etc. Has that been shared here? Haven’t gone through all 5 pages yet.

This is the glassdoor page of her wedding video business: https://www.glassdoor.co.uk/Reviews/Shoot-It-Yourself-Reviews-E1095007.htm

Abysmal. Hiring apprentices (gotta use those gov.uk schemes), teaching them nothing, paying them £3 and a bit per hour and forcing them into dodgy contracts. Really puts all the unpaid labour we see with dahlia beach into context

And here we are again with the latest drama, the opening day “party” having to be rescheduled because there aren’t enough flowers. Cue another emotional video. It really is tiresome and becoming an overused trope.
if anyone loves Dahlias try watching Floret Flower - she’s US based and her level of knowledge and professionalism is amazing. She breeds her own Dahlia varieties and invests years to nurture new flowers and is meticulous in her approach and organisation. Couldn’t be more different than DB.
