It’s great the UK government have a blank cheque book to hand 😉

Can’t people take any personal responsibility for anything anymore?! Suing the government 🤦‍♀️ A lot of clubs here are asking for a negative LFT result on the door, or proof of jab. That’s about as safe as we’re going to get without closing them. If people are worried about getting ill they need to stay away, the risk is still there and it always will be! Life itself is a risk.

I'm feeling really left out now.
I'm going to install the app just so I can get pinged and delete it.
How recent does a phone have to be for the app? I can dig up a spare to go one up on everybody and experience this twice.
I ended up installing it on this tablet even though it refused to work the last time I tried - only a couple months ago I think though I don't know if that's real time or covid-time.

Hopes raised (god I can be so stupidly bloody optimistic sometimes) I dug up the phone (only a couple of years old) and then scared some passers-by outside with the swearing as I tried different ancient versions but gave up when I decided I probably ought to RTFM, at which point I swore again because it told me in nice easy to read big text that its Bluetooth chip was version 2 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♀️ not the required 4 🤦‍♀️ 🤦‍♂️ 🤦‍♀️ 🤦‍♂️

TLDR : FFS RTFM :cautious:

People cramming back on to trains like a tin of sardines, how horrible for them. One guy in a photo is barely inside far enough for the door to shut behind him. We cannot go back to how things were. Businesses are in for a rude awakening if they think staff will take them being brought in all the time. Those days are long gone.

Public health is a complicated matter why have the likes of emergency PH officials / institutions in high paid positions if they’re just going to leave it up to the public anyway🤷🏼‍♀️

There is no way I believe only 20% of young people want to go clubbing. I think from the photos we've seen today we can see nightclubs are going to be packed out for a long time to come as people make up for lost time.
Who are they asking 😂 The majority of my friends and just people I know on social media etc have been pushing the rules to the limit since things slowly started opening back in March/April. I don’t know anyone who is not planning to go out. Fair enough some people just don’t like clubbing - maybe that’s who they got the answers from.

It's good that they are after more data first but good data for me would be waiting a few years. Giving healthy low risk school kids the jab this year, next year or the year after would be too soon in my opinion. If they bring it in later this year I hope schools accept it when parents say they don't want their child having it and don't pester them to try and force them to change their minds.

On the other hand the reports feature selected photos/clips from selected nightclubs, these were not definitely not containing the entirety of the younger generation, and I am very much reminded of all those 'packed promenade' photos...

I see the point but I stopped believing covid/lockdown surveys quite some time back, except as a possible gauge as to what an article is trying to persuade us is 'normal thinking', this one I suspect is to generate shock that people could think such a thing.

That said, articles on surveys practically write themselves and I probably shouldn't unfairly accuse them of putting any thought into it 😇

1.7 million people self isolating, businesses closing or reducing opening hours, staff shortages and masks still encouraged.

Happy delayed freedom day everyone.

I heard a nightclub boss on the radio say just over 20% of nightclubs opened last night so maybe that had something to do with it

I only go into the office once a week at the moment but the trains have been at their usual busy level here since late Apr/early May. I've had to leave much earlier in the morning - pre-7am - to avoid getting up close to the hordes of school kids on the tram. This is in South London and a lot of my friends who work in London have been back in the office at least a few days a week for a while now. We're supposed to be going back in 3 days a week (compulsory) from September. Hardly anyone I know is fully staying working from home for the majority of the week. From my understanding there's a lot in terms of health and safety that needs to be completed if you work fully from home and I guess for a big company that's quite an expense to ensure everyone has a safe work environment with a proper desk and chair when they have big buildings with long term rents - I know it's definitely the case for our company with regards to the latter.

Been to Morrison’s and Aldi this morning. I was in the minority not wearing a mask. Felt very nice. If it was busy I’d consider putting one on but it was so quiet in both that it felt nice to be in there without and not worry. Was surprised that there was a lot of younger people still wearing them, I thought they’d all be desperate to get rid! Each to their own!
