Son has been contacted by school to self isolate until midnight on Sunday. We had plans on Saturday which are booked and paid for 😭
My son was off all this week due to a case in one of his classes. His isolation was up today, but yesterday I let him go out with his friend to play football.
It's like a million degrees where we are and the poor kid has been in all week. My mind said that 24hrs isn't going to make a blind bit of difference.
If I were you and your son doesn't show any symptoms all week then I'd keep my plans for the sake of one day. You could even do an LFT before you go to be sure if that made you feel better

Scotland picking up again there’s reports there is a new variant in the North but they’ve been told not to look into it

I'm tempted to go if he has no symptoms and a negative test. We've just come out of 10 days isolation due to myself testing positive and he's only been back at school 2 days

I think he's done his time bless him. If he's showed no symptoms after being so close to you all this time, then he sure won't from being at school for 2 days.
Chances are he was nowhere near the so called positive case anyway. He deserves whatever treat you have lined up next weekend!

My understanding is that there is a 'general' pilot study whereby people are randomly assigned to a group (isolate or daily LFTs), but for the 20 or so workplaces taking part (including Downing Street), all of the employees do the latter. I'm happy to be proven wrong though if somebody knows better.
Some NHS trusts are doing this with staff who have been pinged , they do ten daily LFT,s
