So you get to police what people are upset about now? What is a ‘small inconvenience’ to you could be huge to someone else.
Exactly!!! E.g. saying masks are a small inconvenience. Not to me last year when I developed a skin infection (as a result of warm moist air trapped within the mask) all across my nose and around my mouth and couldn't get a GP appointment for love nor money.

What I’m saying is id understand the anger on here if it was all about those industries but it’s not. A lot of people are just worked up about small inconveniences.
My friends who work in aerospace and performing arts moan less than people on here who are working.

To be fair the impacts on businesses etc. has been mentioned quite a lot in recent days. Before that it did mainly seem to be about going to the pub, wearing masks etc. and in some case anything that might incite a bit of 'rebellion'.

The hospital waiting list issue has been mentioned a lot too but I wonder if the same people were complaining over the last 10 years when the government 'austerity measures' were driving up waiting lists anyway. Covid has caused them to increase but not perhaps as much as people think.

Finally I might be inclined to take some of the Tory politicians and right wing 'talking heads' more seriously (probably not actually) if before Covid they had shown the slightest concern for the people that they now claim to be advocating for.

Yeah I totally understand these industries are suffering. I was genuinely asking what it was making everyone so passionate on here. The majority just seam annoyed to have to book a meal in advance and wear a mask which is nuts in my opinion.
As the government behavioural scientists said at the start.. People are fatigued now.
It might not be a big deal to some to have to pre book, but to others it will put them off going out.
Consider people with mental health problems - their illness might already make them nervous, so to then have extra pressure of producing tests, or being contacted my track and trace, or being glared at by some nob because they legally don't have to wear a mask, so haven't put one on might be too much.
Some have realised that this probably won't be just 4 weeks.
Some it hasn't affected, but are very empathic about the people the delay will affect others.

There's a million different reasons why people are passionate

Sorry if you disagree but I’d prefer these inconveniences forever than for people to go through what our family went through watching our dad on a ventilator for 8 weeks.
Not to start a debate but I currently have a family member in hospital (not covid) but we are not permitted to visit. It sadly affects everyone in more ways than one. Sorry about your dad x

Yeah so these are the kind of things I expected when I was asking about what are people mad about. I wanted to understand what things were stil affecting life. I’m so sorry you still can’t visit hospitals it’s awful not being with people when they are ill. Are the nurses helping you video call?

Repeating the same point again and again does not make it fact 🤷
It’s not in lockdown. There’s small restrictions left which are easing probably in around four weeks. Weddings will probably be allowed at full capacity. I feel for the travel and hospitality industry but show support where you can don’t just moan about sanitising and wearing masks.

Hannah, I know protesting isn't for everyone but I don't know how if you were here listening to these people whose lives are ruined you could walk away and say it is a 'minor inconvenience'. These are real people, with lives and careers and families who have been wiped out.

My life isn't ruined (apart from my husband is half the world away) I have enough money, a home, health. I am fortunate. But just because it is OK for me doesn't mean I can't care about everyone else. And I want better for my kids.

What I was saying was if it was protesting to get funding for hospitals to get through the backlog of surgeries and appointments, or protesting for people to be able to see their relatives in hospital, or protesting for extended furlough for travel industry I’d understand completely. Most of the responses were people protesting at booking restaurants in advance and wearing masks which I didn’t understand.

I think it depends what industry you work in. For example my husband and lot of my friends all work for airlines/travel. They are all still on furlough and anxiously waiting to see if they will still have jobs after the restrictions end. Pubs/restaurants still can’t run full capacity and some are making a loss. Theatre/arts etc all still affected.

This industry is being shafted by our government and it’s disgusting. If the rest of Europe can open up for unrestricted movement if vaccinated then as the country with the highest jabbed ratio we can too!!! They’re even happy to take us in FFS. Like I said yesterday, Lufthansa are putting in 747’s, PCR tests are free in some countries or only €39. Fucking con.

Anyone who wants to see family or go holiday (because it’s not a crime if someone wants a break outside of the UK) is being shafted by this shit decision 😡

We all ready for this shit fest? I'm going for 10 minutes late

Might be working still but working in mental health. Spend a couple of hours answering our phones and see why we "moan" about wanting lockdown to end

Again. To some people not wearing a mask and not having restrictions on booking to go out is a big deal. May not be to you

There is no reasoning with ignorant

Do you seriously think people are protesting over having to book restaurants in advance 🤷.
It's what all the restrictions mean to people's every day life...big or small it all matters !!!
