I can only speak for my local area but things have got so bad in the last couple of weeks, and yesterday’s announcement hasn’t changed anything at all. So we carry on the same trajectory.

My comment was more-so about a circuit breaker idea (didn't make that clear), surely the point of the new system is areas like yours could be further locked down and areas which dont need it can continue? Just seems insane to do something else after something happening only yesterday

How did they collect that? Add it to their student loan?! I‘m chuckling at the thought of students having £10k to pay a fine. I couldn’t afford a fucking tin of beans at Uni let alone handing the old bill a check for ten grand Maybe it is taken from future earnings?

Honestly i said the same thing - would have been better fining each attendee 500 pounds or something more reasonable how students are able to rubble up £10k is beyond me!

PHE picked the worst time to combine the COVID-19 and Inluenza surveillance report because now I see so many comments from people saying that the flu is being counted in with covid when in fact the stats are still separate just contained within the same report

Im sorry but i feel we need to wait and see if things are working before implementing more and more restrictions.. Like these new ones haven't even come in and people are already calling for more, they may work why go further without seeing the impact of now?

Because there are too many naughty people who can't follow guidelines and think they can do whatever they want, wherever they want, whenever they want.

For me its got to be the schools opening thats made the numbers high again. Pubs and restaurants have been open since beginning of July and no one has really been social distancing since then. Its only since schools have opened that its started to spread again.
But what can you do, parents cant be expected to home school forever and its going to affect the children's futures.

Yeah, it looks like schools are the real culprit. But how can we have the kids back at home again?
I think the government thought they could make it to half term before the numbers rose. It’s like watching a car crash in slow motion right now.

Can we not employ some genius or get MI5 to study (steal) the tech and methods of the successful countries? I mean, don't we have SOMEONE who can formulate a plan to get us out of this shit? (I’ve been watching reruns of Spooks and man, those dudes can stop anything, you’re telling me they can’t stop a virus??? )

My christmases are usually a big rush day. Usually xmas eve/early xmas morning with my partner then I go to my mums, open gifts, then to my dads, back to mums for dinner then back to partners for afternoon/evening. (Partner and parents dont get on, bit complicated) but its been this way for years.
Who knows what it will be like this year. Im a big baby when it comes to christmas day and have never spent it without my mum.

There’s no way I’d stop seeing mine - I didn’t last time and I won’t this time. We are very sensible but he’s my rock, I wouldn’t cope without seeing him

My boyfriend wants to ignore the restrictions and still see each other. He says why should we put our relationship on hold AGAIN when neither of us are high risk or mingling with anyone that is. If we follow the rules we will have spent more time apart this year than we will have done together and it’s so shit. I’m in 2 minds about what to do. I want to continue to see him but at the same time if everyone had that mindset we would get nowhere

we’ve had local restrictions for 2 months, it hasn’t worked, our cases have continued to increase, yesterday it was announced that we would be in tier 2 which is actually easing or restrictions so better for us as can now see family
