Know of a situation first hand today where someone was given a positive test result... in some random person’s name. So had to be retested as not sure if they’ve been sent right result in wrong name or if results have been somehow mixed up.

Absolute balls up. You cant even rely on the results when you get them.

Keir Starmer is now calling for a national circuit break lockdown 2/3 weeks...

SAGE believed we should have had a circuit break 3 weeks ago so we’re already too far into the second wave fo it to make any difference?

I‘m starting to believe that the new tier systems etc have been put in place simply to prepare us for another lockdown. ”Look, we’ve tried everything, it’s not going down, you guys didn’t follow the rules, so sorry, but yeah, it’s another lockdown.“

This is such a fucking disaster.

Talk of all London boroughs being moved into tier 2, I have a hotel stay booked with my husband in a few weeks if we’re in tier 2 would we still be allowed to go to a hotel in tier 1?

I don't think we'll ever be too far in for it to make a difference. The difference may be much smaller than it could have been but I think it would have some affect.
Not that I really agree with a circuit breaker in which colleges and unis are still open.

I think it will depend on the hotel, your best bet is ringing them.

I’m pretty sure this is okay with your own household. On the gov website under tier 3, it specifically says “you should avoid staying overnight...etc” but nothing under the other two tiers.

Thats what I thought, thank you

That’s how exponential growth works, if I give you a penny and you can double it every day, you’ll be a millionaire by day 28. Exponential growth of the virus is frightening, but it’s not a concept the human brain easily grasps. We should have acted weeks ago, but there would have been even less public support when the numbers appeared low, people were posting then about how the figures were “good news”. Brings to mind the old saying about closing the stable door after the horse has bolted.
So true. And the deaths will only go up before they go down - there will be people in hospital right now whose deaths are almost inevitable, unfortunately. The odds are stacked against them.

I heard something on the news about not traveling between tiers. So maybe not.

Has anyone heard of people getting fined?

ive heard a couple of things today in work..£1000 fine for visiting Tesco (travelled pretty far, and tracked the car)
A fine when out shopping outside her area (they tracked the card)

I’m not planning on breaking rules but it’s still very worrying. They are big fines too.

some students at my old uni had a house party of 100+ and got a £10k fine each (3 of them) - absolutely insane they did such a dumb thing and apparently some people there were symptomatic

My boyfriend wants to ignore the restrictions and still see each other. He says why should we put our relationship on hold AGAIN when neither of us are high risk or mingling with anyone that is. If we follow the rules we will have spent more time apart this year than we will have done together and it’s so shit. I’m in 2 minds about what to do. I want to continue to see him but at the same time if everyone had that mindset we would get nowhere😩

God Prinnygrace i feel for you being back in this position - i think you have to weigh up all risks, where you/him are going, do you live with vulnerable people, are the people you live with ok with it? Hope you manage to see him soon :(

It looks like we might be in national lockdown in a couple of weeks.

looks like we might all be at a level 5 breakdown in a couple of weeks.
its been a minute since I did some cheese-triangle-as-a-piping-bag-art on toast 😐
Ah March, you little bitch 😆

I might be totally wrong but i feel Starmer coming out and saying he wants the circuit breaker might actually make a difference.

Him saying it on top of the info that sage already recommended it *just* might tip the balance

he’s saying it for political gain though, and he waited long enough, just to be safe 😂
the building is on fire and Starmer floats the idea of getting extinguishers in 🤷‍♀️

Im sorry but i feel we need to wait and see if things are working before implementing more and more restrictions.. Like these new ones haven't even come in and people are already calling for more, they may work why go further without seeing the impact of now?
I can only speak for my local area but things have got so bad in the last couple of weeks, and yesterday’s announcement hasn’t changed anything at all. So we carry on the same trajectory.

How did they collect that? Add it to their student loan?! I‘m chuckling at the thought of students having £10k to pay a fine. I couldn’t afford a fucking tin of beans at Uni let alone handing the old bill a check for ten grand 🤪Maybe it is taken from future earnings?
