Omg!!!! That's crept up
That’s how exponential growth works, if I give you a penny and you can double it every day, you’ll be a millionaire by day 28. Exponential growth of the virus is frightening, but it’s not a concept the human brain easily grasps. We should have acted weeks ago, but there would have been even less public support when the numbers appeared low, people were posting then about how the figures were “good news”. Brings to mind the old saying about closing the stable door after the horse has bolted.

Its so sad think scotland said 6 deaths.
Dont know wales ni numbers so bulk must be England.

Our local hospital within a week gone from 9 covid patiants to 27

New cases 17234 2792 more than last Tues total 59244 up 12217 (26%) 143 compared to 76 last tue.

I guess during March April we were used to 600 to 700 deaths a day.
NI had 7 deaths we've went from around 16 patients to 150 within about 3 weeks so it doesn't take long to increase

There will have been NHS staff who qualified this summer. Obviously not millions but certainly enough to counter act the very sad NHS deaths
Inexperienced staff. There's already a low retention rate for newly qualified staff as it is, put them on an environment where they are working at unsafe levels, in areas they won't have been on, risking catching a virus that could seriously harm them. I wouldn't stay.

Plus the amount leaving the NHS usually outweighs the amount coming in, and that's before the pandemic. In terms of midwives we were already 5000 short.

I am absolutey appalled by our government these past few weeks in NI. Cases have skyrocketed and the executive have barely appeared.

totally agree with you! The executive were meeting today (pulled forward from Thursday), I wonder if we should expect an announcement later today?

And what with this years teaching probably being online or postponed and I doubt the intake for this year is low we just don’t have the numbers.

Most NHS hospitals cover way more residents that they ever were mean to. With services being cut the hospitals and buildings/land sold it just can’t cope no matter how much cash you throw at the NHS.

They're at loggerheads again that's why! they've turned on Swan now because he's siding with the scientists in wanting this circuit breaker ,Arlene wants to go down Boris's route and Michelle's leaning towards Swan but is being accused by some of trying to force the north into an economic wasteland in the hope Boris will cut ties and force the ROI to take over 😂 ...it's a mess

After they slashed the bursary numbers of students were falling too. Money isn't going to solve this short term.

This just shows how you can’t push every resource to its limits and then expect to rely on it. We’ve had signs that the UK is struggling for years, we have to many people (housing crisis etc) we don’t have the money to support the people we have here (increase in poverty and food banks) and something needed to be done years ago. This is just highlighting the cracks that had already started.

can the north do a full lockdown without the republic though. 🤷‍♀️
it’s a mess, it’s all a mess. Our CMO’s are finally working together so that’s nice 😆

Im angry about this because its been something we've been highlighting for years and no one has paid any attention. I feel like going "told you so". People have sat back and accepted the NHS being run into the ground and now when we need to protect it they complain we have to have the restrictions to ensure its not over run.

We can only hope that from this tragedy there will be change for the better. I doubt it, but we can hope.
