Really struggling today to see how the severity of this virus warrants the destruction of society :( People saying the only way to get back to normal is via a vaccine or having to test yourselves daily but...should we not actually be thinking more along the lines of we just have to live with this as another virus and maybe we won’t ever be able to “beat” it. If you showed a layman the number of deaths per year for flu (even WITH a vaccine) they would probably be astounded that we’re not doing more to help the situation... why is Covid any different? Yes it’s an awful awful virus but for the vast majority of people it’s NOT fatal or serious. There’s some truly horrific viruses like Ebola that I feel would justify this sort of response but, I’m sorry I just don’t understand anymore. Is there something they’re not telling us? Yes the death rate was high but as we found out a huge proportion of those people didn’t actually die FROM Covid - and yes I know some did and a lot have health issues now but I just don’t understand why Covid is getting “special treatment” compared to all the other diseases and bugs out there:unsure:.

Can anyone shed any light on what other countries are doing with regards to travel?

Some people I follow on social media who live in France and Spain seem to be travelling freely (ie without quarantine)... Alps surprised they are allowed into other countries as their numbers are so high!

I’ve read on a Turkey forum today the tourists are being fined for not wearing a mask. They don’t even accept exceptions and say if you can’t wear a mask then you don’t go out.

Great news! Haven’t heard from mine yet - 48 hours at 4pm. Currently in a queue to 119.
Update - 40 mins in a queue to be told they can’t help with my results so they have to email their help desk. When asked how long it’ll take to get a response, could be an hour or a day!!!!! Ok mate, the kids and I will just stay off school and work indefinitely. Nice one

And this is where it will spread. People won’t want to abide by this shit show. Especially those who don’t have the luxury to work at home.

I know, I can’t work from home although I could if I was given the option to. Hubby is working upstairs and I’m resenting him:ROFLMAO: whilst I watch the kids.[/QUOTE]

I don’t get the comments from people who say the rule of 6 is rubbish and that they ain’t gonna follow it . And that we should focus on the vulnerable and elderly

The more people you have crammed together in small spaces , the more exposure you will have and increase the viral load
Younger people are known to carry it and have mild symptoms but can easily pass it onto their grandparents who will feel the effects more severely

But crack on , if you don’t give a shit 😀

I have said in previous threads - it’s because Covid is the first thing that killed people in the West for a while. In developing countries people can die left, front and centre from childbirth - doesn’t happen here. Neglected tropical diseases like malaria kills 3000 children every day - who cares.
We just forgot that we are vulnerable and that death is relatively normal.
Also a lot of people talk about unknown consequences of Covid. Well, I had chicken pox this year, I didn’t have it as a child). On average 25 people a year die from chicken pox in the UK alone (data is from early 2000s). It’s more severe in adults - I was ill for nearly a month with it, I have scarring all over me, and I wasn’t scratching my scabs, my eczema got much worse, and my skin has never been so dry no matter how much lotions and creams I use. Of course Covid is going to have consequences - any and every disease has them, and yes, they will get worse with age.
I just want to get on with life, like everyone.
Oh, and NHS gets overwhelmed all year round, so that’s not news!

We’ve had a big rise in people in their 60’s contracting it so it’s dropped down a generation or two they’ve had to bring in restrictions for certain areas to try and curb the spread ..so it’s already filtering through here
