Exactly we won't know, but I do find it odd how after four weeks of everything that involves people gathering being stopped that the rate of infection jumps by so much everyday. Like I said I understand the death rates as there are so many variables of the people contracting the disease which will contribute to that, but new infection rates should have surely fallen by now.
It is really strange ! the only thing it can be is the social care aspect ,it must be a rise in geriatric deaths 🤷‍♀️

I feel like I don’t understand why the minute they confirm that lockdown is extended everyone’s up in arms.
I know it’s hard but do we really think that by going back to normal now would help, it would literally undo almost everything we’ve done.

Without a vaccine no matter when we lift it will basically do that. As time goes on I don't think this virus is going to go away seasonally or otherwise. I think its here to stay until it wears itself down to be not as fatal or we get a vaccine. I also worry that in the case of a vaccine being made that to make it viable it will have to be distributed to the most vulnerable only ( like most vaccines) therefore we will still have to continue as we are. I don't know what the right answer is but I do think something drastic needs to be worked out soon, so everyone knows where they are at.

Personally, I think Tesco has been the best prepared supermarket in my area. Closely followed by Morrisons. Didn't even ATTEMPT Asda. Its a nightmare on a good day.
Our Tesco is within a shopping centre of sorts and they had a in/out system, an employee was standing by the trolleys sanitising them before customers took them, security at the centre doors and within the store, as well as stickers on floors all the way through shop as well as in aisles (first of this ive seen), etc. They did seem to get a bit lax towards the end of day though. I was incredibly impressed esp as I'm Team Morrisons! :ROFLMAO:

Here we go, another 3 weeks of people trying to work out how to get around the rules.

This was never gone be a done thing in 3 weeks, this is for the long haul.

On the plus side I got to leave work early today as all the children went early and we now get to wear masks as those pesky 2 year olds don't understand the whole keep 2 metres away from me 😂

yeah, I get that and I feel like yes of course we need an answer but how can they have a specific date? It seems ridiculous that people are wanting them to say on June 1st life goes back to normal when they’ve said they need more data to be sure.

As they say the R needs to be below 1 as such so the virus is less ‘About’ And able to fully spread. Of course it’s here to stay, I don’t doubt that. I just think that we are being told that what we are doing is working and we need to do a little more to ensure it.

I think that they are keeping a v close eye on how other counties are opening up to see what the repercussions are.

I think its very responsible of the govt not to give dates like Czech are doing as we are not there yet. If they give dates to lift these restrictions, people will take that and RUN. If the virus continues spreading and those dates don't seem likely anymore, there would be chaos. People would be out and about thinking they can because dates were give, some for businesses etc.

Our medical officer has said a vaccine is the only cure

I don't want to expose my kids unneccesarily but I do think something needs to be done. The lockdown as indeed kept the pressure of the hospital's but it hasn't made that much of a dent in the numbers of infected as regardless of the outcome to the people who get it, there seems to be a massive jump of infected everyday. That should not be the case after four weeks of being pretty much in isolation. I get the death toll being high due to the variables of the people who contracted covid but the infection rate should have decreased due to the people being isolated. Plus there is the added worry if when they do lift lockdown there is going to be a huge spike of infected and deaths because everyone going back to normal. I think a gradual lift of putting people back out there will still keep the NHS ticking along nicely.

They did say it would get worse before it got better so it makes sense that the numbers are rising before they fall. They will only fall if lockdown continues though cause it's slowing the rate of infection, flattening the curve and all that jazz...

I don't expect a date. Id rather they would just put measures in place so can get back to reality. I am a mum the social aspect doesn't bother me as I don't go out much but I know it does to others and I feel that it's fIr that they can go on about their business. I also feel for the vulnerable people and would like them to get some sort of Normality back

Sorry if I’m being stupid - is the lockdown starting 3 weeks from today or 3 weeks from Monday? (When the first lockdown was due to end)

It is, but there might never be a vaccine so we can't just never go out again, there needs to be a plan to return to life without/until a vaccine.
It will just come down to wealth or health...people will have to decide can they afford to stay home ..or take a risk and hope they don't catch it !

It must carry on through surely...they meet every 3 weeks to review ..
