I don’t agree with people saying that lockdown hasn’t worked. it has stopped many people being in closer proximity than they would have other wise, such as pubs, restaurants, everything else.

As echoed above it’s not about stopping the virus but letting the NHS cope. People are getting bored of the measures because we quite frankly had F.A direct leadership since Boris announced it.
I understand what sir Patrick Vallance and Chris Witty day when they explain the figures but how many people actually bother to watch the daily briefing?
There’s been nothing to echo how important it is for everyone to take notice of. Boris announced the lockdown at 8pm at night and everyone took notice. Since then it’s almost been like a can of worms where people slowly start not bothering and before we know it everyone’s doing the same.

I for one hope it continues a little longer, I don’t enjoy this at all, I hate not being able to shop for myself, worry for my family but I feel the longer we can teeter on a balance of keeping things going V keeping those who need it safe until they’re able to go some protection from the virus.

it can’t go on forever but I feel like people aren’t pleased whatever they do. They pushed and pushed for lockdown. We’re in lockdown now we want an exit strategy 🤷🏻‍♀️

you mean the numbers of people passing away?
a huge amount of cases are in nursing homes and residential care homes, I’m hoping this week is the peak and we should drop in numbers from here on in, we also do include people who die at home and in care settings.
there is huge confusion over testing at this point.
It feels like it’s never ending and as soon as we see the numbers go up, hoping that’s the peak, it’s not.

who knows if Easter weekend will see a spike in numbers as well. 🤦‍♀️
There starting to count care home deaths here from this week onwards..We’ve had the biggest jump yet...going to be contact tracing and testing going forward..

I absolutely dread to imagine what the numbers would be without a lockdown.

which is exactly what’s needed!

I wouldn’t want my kids back in school right now, they already get enough illnesses throughout the year 🙈🙈

I don't want to expose my kids unneccesarily but I do think something needs to be done. The lockdown as indeed kept the pressure of the hospital's but it hasn't made that much of a dent in the numbers of infected as regardless of the outcome to the people who get it, there seems to be a massive jump of infected everyday. That should not be the case after four weeks of being pretty much in isolation. I get the death toll being high due to the variables of the people who contracted covid but the infection rate should have decreased due to the people being isolated. Plus there is the added worry if when they do lift lockdown there is going to be a huge spike of infected and deaths because everyone going back to normal. I think a gradual lift of putting people back out there will still keep the NHS ticking along nicely.

What a number 🤪

Shortly after he finished the fundraiser, the retired soldier had words of advice for the nation about coping with the coronavirus lockdown.

"You've all got to remember that we will get through it in the end, it will all be right," he said.

"For all those people finding it difficult at the moment, the sun will shine on you again and the clouds will go away."

I'm just listening to our briefing these lockdown measures are to continue for many weeks we're nowhere near a peak ? here people do seem to be following the advice I'm puzzled where these numbers are coming from .we locked down before St Patrick's day and we didn't have scenes like Cheltenham so we can't blame that 🤷‍♀️ but still we're getting a rise in new cases ...very puzzling..

But how do we know it hasn’t made a dent?
Without lockdown we could have been hearing about thousands of deaths every day.
We will never know 100% either way if it was successful or not but didn’t they say without lockdown they were estimating 200,000 deaths?

I can't see how they can reopen schools yet though as how can you keep up social distance when there's a few hundred kids in one place?

This is what I cannot work out. We have been self isolating for four weeks yet there is a rise everyday on new infections. Something doesn't add up.

Exactly we won't know, but I do find it odd how after four weeks of everything that involves people gathering being stopped that the rate of infection jumps by so much everyday. Like I said I understand the death rates as there are so many variables of the people contracting the disease which will contribute to that, but new infection rates should have surely fallen by now.
