Tory donors Dyson and JCB to make ventilators. Which will take time and need to be medically approved.
Yet the government bypassed the offer of the pre approved ones by another UK company that already make ventilators that would have been made quicker.
Oh Boris!! I am disappointed, let's see the spin on this.

ETA-I am sure there was a lady on a previous thread who said her husband worked for a ventilator manufacturer and there had been no order placed despite the announce of shortages by the government.
There is a veterinary firm that has been making ventilators for 25 years that contacted the government and said they could make some tweaks and have them suitable for human use.. they hadn't heard anything back when I last read about it last week.

The police are stopping vehicles on roads in and out of my town, asking why they are not at home and if they say they have been shopping, they are checking the shopping to make sure it was 'essential', although as has been said im not sure what they're deeming as essential.

Yeah I am exactly the same. I’m thinking I’ve got a sore throat so then I’m constantly seeing if my glands are up and any pain around my neck I’m then making it sore, I’m dehydrated so my throat is dry and I’m like or is it my sore throat. My anxiety is making my chest feel tight and feel like something is sitting on it. Then I’m convinced it’s attacking my lungs. And then I have a random cough like once a day but I convince myself it’s the start 😭 it’s so horrible 😥 loosing sleep over it as well whilst worrying about my family as well.
I need to findsomething to take my mind off it just so difficult. It’s so frightening 😢 I hope your ok and your daughter x

My daughter is exactly the same but she constantly has anxiety while she's away at Uni and sends me about 20 messages a day relating to her health. I had thought of keeping them from now on as she will mention a symptom saying 'I've never had this before' and I say 'you have' but she denies it! Now that she thinks she's got coronavirus she is doing the same thing..obsessing over her symptoms. I think boredom plays a part. She's probably not going back to Uni now until September and her anxiety is always worse when she's not keeping herself busy.

I'm actually OK. I think having to reassure my daughter constantly is distracting me from my own anxiety.

One thing I know from my own anxiety is that tiredness makes it worse so the fact you're not sleeping is probably not helping you at the moment. Wishing you well x

Are they allowed to search peoples cars without a warrant/good reason?! Surely that’s not legal or an effective use of police resources

Yes I was about to start rehab for my anxiety but this has obviously put everything on hold 😩 yeah I’m tired and not drinking enough water which isn’t good either. It’s actually crazy what the brain can do! I mean I’ve always had the random cough since I stopped smoking so it’s probably just my body healing from that still.
i haven’t even been out for 2 weeks apart from taking groceries to a family member and just leaving on the doorstep and chatting with the correct distance. But my brain is obviously on over drive thinking I’ve caught it. 😩

Is anyone else starting to think maybe lockdown maynot be a good idea?
That study from Bristol University thinks that if GDP shrinks by more than 6.4% then the trashing of the economy will kill more people than trying to fight this virus. Some economists are saying they expect GDP to shrink by at least 20%. Oxford university has a study to think millions have already had it

My neighbours are mid house move right now. I've just seen an older neighbour go in their house to chat to them and their young kids as they move. Then she came out and chatted up close with another elderly neighbour. Wtf. Spread stuff around why don't you hun.

I’m afraid to give too much detail Incase someone I know finds this thread but I have a friend who’s just bought a house, the value has already dropped and the family who owned the house were selling because they we’re moving to Canada for work.... well that’s fallen through and they have nowhere else to go now but the house they have basically sold.

Friends family are renting at the moment expecting to move into their new house in the next month.

Its a mess.

damned if you do damned if you don’t at this point 🤷‍♀️ it’s a big part of why they’re keeping construction going. To shut everything down would be a disaster.

No matter the decision, there’s going to be a lot more casualties than those that are being reported as stats right now.

I have no idea if they're allowed, im not that clued up on the law. It was my sister who told me, she had gone to collect some medication and some meat from the butchers for my nan and they asked to check her shopping bag. There have been multiple posts of people having the same thing happening on our local facebook group too, so not an isolated incident.

I think that’s ridiculous. They need to start actually dispersing the massive groups of kids hanging around parks and street corners! People sat safely in their cars are no threat to anyone, i feel so much for anyone who already suffers agoraphobia or anxiety - imagine working up the courage to leave your house only to be faced with an interrogation as to whether your needs are deemed “necessary”. 2 close friends of mine have already told me their mental health is really suffering due to the restrictions - one of them is possibly now suicidal. It’s such a shame that because some members of society can’t follow the rules we’re all being punished. There are going to be a lot of suicides if they keep this up.

We havent had trouble with groups of teens here, im sure i would've heard about it on the local group if we had. So maybe they're doing this instead.
I live beside a busy road, its still just as busy as it normally would be on a Thursday. Its a small town, there is no way all of those people are following the rules set out on Monday.
So if this is a way to deter people from taking the piss then i have nothing against it. I honestly dont think they would be fussed by a packet of tampons and a few other bits but maybe if someone had gone and bought a garden gnome from asda for instance, that isn't essential and needs to be stopped.

Just got off the ‘phone to my mum.
She said she ”nipped” to Tesco this morning for a newspaper! Couldn’t believe the social distancing queue, so decided against buying the paper and went to the front and asked if she could use their toilet! Wtf?! Then went to the local shop for her paper. Yes that essential item!
Then said she usually walks her dog twice a day so how would they know? I’m afraid I shouted at her then.
At the end of the conversation she said she hoped things would be better next week so that I could go out to celebrate my birthday! Arghhhhhhh!
How is she not getting this?

It's my birthday this weekend and then my spouses on Tuesday. I feel awful as I don't have anything for him as we've been social distancing and now most of the stores are closed,

Some shops are doing deliveries if your vulnerable I'd ring round and see hun. I'm trying to avoid popping to the shop as much as poss and only going to the supermarket once a week. Buying 2 loaf of breads and freezing one I might even freeze some milk save me popping to the shop when I run out.
Thank you. I will try ringing round. Our local area has volunteers but I feel guilty sending someone else out for us.

Mine is Tuesday too!
I’m the designated shopper in our household so I’ll even be buying my own birthday chocs and flowers. Not expecting any presents now and I’ll be lucky if I even receive cards, people have more important things to worry about. Won’t even get a night off cooking this year. I’ve decided I am remaining 49 until I can properly celebrate! 😁

Good news!
The first batch of a massive order for Personal Protective Equipment for Healthcare workers place by the HSE will start arriving here from China on Sunday afternoon. The overall HSE order for this essential equipment is worth €200 million.

In all, the €200 million order has been broken into five batches for delivery and up to 300 flights (or the equivalent) backwards and forwards to China will be required between now and the end of May to complete the delivery.
It is the first of the ten flights needed for the first batch of equipment that that will arrive in Ireland on Sunday.

I've managed to get him a card which I'm pleased about, I got it grocery shopping, lol. I said to him we can celebrate in 6 months time, haha.
