They’re getting rid of the ZOE app too

Who would have thought putting the public under house arrest, telling kids they can kill granny, keeping kids away from school/mates, people being put on furlough worrying if they will have a job to go back to, constant death figures etc would have resulted in this.....:censored:

It certainly feels like the government wants to sweep it under the carpet.

It'll take a massive spike in cases for them to do anything now, as they don't want to spend any more money.

Cases are already back up to over 100,000. There’s a rise in Europe. I don’t know how this is going to pan out but having some sort of Covid surveillance would be sensible as it hasn’t gone away.

Daily figures are not over 100,000 (official figures anyway, agree they probably are when you add in people who won’t report or test) the spike to over 100,000 on a Monday is backlog from the weekend and the over 100,000 today was due to 4 days backlog from Scotland.

To be honest, I agree with what the government and other countries are doing now, and opening up. For the majority of people now it is a bad cold, yes people will still end up in hospital but that’s a sad fact of life/illnesses. The number of people in hospital with covid has gone up, but only about 25% admitted are because of covid, the rest are tested in hospital while in with some thing else and don’t even know they have it.

Yes they are, the ZOE Covid app actually shows more than 200,000 cases.

I just think some level of caution should remain, that is all.

As someone who has it right now, I honestly think it's not that bad. Yes, I do understand that some people get unwell. But for the vast majority of people it is a cold, and we've been locked up for two years now protecting everyone else

Hope you’re feeling okay. I didn’t say we have to be locked down again.

If it wasn't for the test, I'd be out and about, it's a cold. If I caught it in two weeks time, I would be allowed to go out, which makes no sense to me at all
I’m just finished ten days isolation after testing positive. I had really mild symptoms, I’ve had far worse colds, but I was exhausted after I walked around Asda for only twenty minutes yesterday. I went to a light fitness class last night and my heart rate was much higher than it would normally be for that level of activity and also felt like it was beating a lot faster than it actually was. I slept for eight hours last night and I’m still exhausted today. Although my symptoms at the time were just like a mild cold, I’m really feeling the after effects which I would never usually have after a cold. Just because it feels like a cold now, doesn’t mean it always will.

Staying home is a sensible precaution to take to try and keep it contained. It’s literally ten days or less if you’re lucky. We need to get rid of the this culture that when we’re ill it’s expected that we will just carry on as normal. Taking time off when you are ill or doing things like wearing a face covering if you have to go out while ill should become common practice. No one is asking for a lockdown, but it is sensible to keep some measures in place.

And that also happens with a cold? You get stuffed up, lightheaded, it all happens before. We need to stop this culture where we put our lives on hold for what is, essentially, a variant of the common cold.

I'm not sure what colds you've had, but I've never had any where I felt exhausted or out of breath after the symptoms had subsided. I was always back to normal once the stuffy nose had gone!

Tested positive Sunday, first time and I’m amazed it’s taken me so long. Fully vaccinated too. My place of work ( school) has a number of staff off alongside me.

Haven’t felt so rough in years ; hacking cough, really painful chest , a bit breathless ,sneezing, temp but no loss of taste or smell . Also fairly bad back pain and awful shooting pains through my knees.

I’m 53 , I definitely don’t brush off illness as quickly as I used to.
