Apparently Marks & Spencers are opening for the elderly only, the first couple of hours two days a week, and another couple of hours on different days for emergency workers only. The rest of us have to scrum it! I only go there for the yellow ticket stuff, but I'm glad supermarkets are looking after people. (Although how old folks can afford M&S on a pension is beyond me, but there ya go)

Do both parents have to be key workers? I am classed as a key worker due to working in a nursery but my husband isn't, so unsure whether my daughter qualifies to still go to school... Ideally wouldn't want her too but with now both sets of parents in self-isolation I may not have much choice.

Yes - so for that 24 hour period, your stats are correct.

But since the data started being recorded, it is not an accurate statement....

You take it as how you want to but from the data for the last 2 days, 1 person or more has died every hour. I didn’t say since the data started being recorded so my statement is accurate.

I’m not quite sure why you’re arguing over this I’m purely trying to show the severity of the situation to try and get people to stay home as much as possible to hopefully reduce the amount of people who do die.

Thanks. Husband has booked Monday/Tuesday off to have her anyways, and then he's on nights later in the week so I'll be there at night and he'll be sleeping when I'm at work. She's 10 though so can fend for herself whilst hes sleeping - we've told her those mornings she can have technology time as long as she does her MyMaths homework within it!!!

By the time we get to the week after I think full lock down will have occurred...

I’m really struggling today, anyone else? Just went to Asda to get a few essentials and couldn’t get a single thing, not even any soap and we’ve now ran out. I’m making myself ill with anxiety, I wish I could phone in sick to work but I just feel stupid. I want this all to be over with now!
If you have shampoo or bubble bath use that,It was on our local info site in case people can't get any handwash ..as the same ingredients are in both apparently

I’m not arguing. I’m simply stating That you made a very powerful, scaremongering and blanket statement that someone in the uk is dying every hour from this virus. I’ve simply pointed out that that isn’t an accurate measurement as that is data from one day only. If you were to divide the total number of deaths over the total hours, it would look nothing like that figure at the moment. I’ve not been rude or argumentative so don’t get why you are being now.

How did everyones 'last' school run go? My kids are very confused, the teachers looks really out out, only a.handful of kids there, it so surreal. They kids get a 'party' today. The teachers have gotten them sweets etc.
It easy to forget about the seriousness of it all when your still doing your daily routines etc. I'm really emotional today, no idea why??

My friend sent me this quite ridiculous video of fighting in a Tesco’s in my area. It’s always worse somehow when you see madness happening nearby, I know that’s illogical.
FYI she’s not the user “shabba racks” nor does she know them and neither of us understand the caption or what “Smokey sets” means.
Oh and it looks warped but that’s because it’s a phone video in portrait-it’s fine when you play it

Yeah, definitely haven't got the point of social distancing if they're willing to grab someone around the neck and pull them to the floor. Sort of defeats the point of stocking up if you're just going to go around touching people 😂 Twats.

Try your local shop?? Amazon? I went into a hug city centre yesterday ( working) and BandM,.Poundland etc had shampoo etc.
At a push try Etsy? People sell soaps etc.

Just a suggestion:

If you are unable to source toilet paper, use a warm, soapy, wet cloth instead. Or baby wipes. I have coeliac disease which has, weirdly resulted in somewhat of an allergy to toilet paper (my poor bottom became extremely raw from using it), and this is what I do.

As soon as the wet cloth has been used, I soak it in a bucket of Dettol - or anything else I have on hand - to remove what's on it, before it gets thrown in the bin. Wet wipes can be burned if you have a fire (don't flush them as they'll block the plumbing).

~

I just returned from my local supermarket. Apparently it's a thing now - to get around the 2 packs of Panadol limit per customer - to get your first lot, then go back to your car and wait a bit before going back and buying more. The world really has gone mad.

Baby wipes are sold out around here too. Lots of parents with babies are panicking.

I had to stop myself from crying saying goodbye to my son at the gates this morning 😔 everywhere just has a very different ‘feel’ to it lately. 💔

It’s not really a case of not believing anything they say. They’ve always explained that the monitor the situation and decide on a day to day basis. At that time they didn’t want to close schools, then as it progressed they decided it was the right time to now do it.

they’ve said all along they didn’t want to make the moves too soon.

we have nowhere near as many deaths from this as most of the other countries so I’d say for now we are obviously doing something right?
Actually, that's not strictly true. We are pretty much neck a neck with Italy. In fact, we are increasing faster in terms of cases and deaths. Our data reflects what Italy were seeing 3 weeks ago. Unfortunately, we are just behind in timescale of other countries, not cases.

Two of my children have EHCP’s. One attends a special school which has closed, the other attends primary with alternative provision. The primary has shut but the alternative provision is continuing.
Gov says children with EHCP will have school. How does this apply if the special schools are shut?
Additionally I have several underlying conditions, so for safety would want to keep them at home. Can gov force them to attend?
I wish the gov would give clearer advice.

Keep them at home if you can. The only reason they're opening schools at all is to ensure that keyworkers can still perform their duties, so if this doesn't apply to you then keep them home. They only want your kids to be in school if it means that without the provision a keyworker would be removed from the system as such-hope that makes sense. If you aren't a keyworker and can safely have your kids at home then you are relieving pressure from the system which is really helpful!

My daugther fell over and grazed her face.. fab last school run 🙄
All the teachers were out talking to parents which never happens!

Will find out at home time if she can still go next week as a key workers kid.

DD nursery teacher was holding it back. I was speaking to OH last night, I'm a very sentimental person, when DS was in nursery. He 'graduated' in a cap and gown. It was a huge celebration of him going for baby to buy, nursery to big school. He got a certificate. A round of applause. We took pictures, I was in labour with his sister at the time ( early labour) we won't get that for her, she won't get that. I'm not ready for her to be a big girl yet 😥
