I have to say that the scene between Paul and Billy on the sofa at the end brought a tear to my tired old heart.
Paul’s eyes were so hopeful and bright when he was talking about what he’d felt, it was lovely and very uplifting (for me anyway!)

This happens in Soaps a lot. A character or event is introduced 6 weeks prior and the soap acts like it’s been around for 3 years. The sense of time and perspective is very skewed on these shows.

It works the other way too. Somebody dies
or a massive tragic event happens, and within 2 weeks it’s been forgotten and barely spoken about again. Whereas in real life you’d still be lying in bed in your PJs crying six weeks later:
