Apparently the actress chose to leave as she was starting secondary school this year and wanted to concentrate on that

Whether that’s true or her or her family are just trying to save face I don’t know

The character of Ruby Dobbs was born in September 2012 so will be 11 next month. Macy Alabi who used to play Ruby was born in July 2012 so is currently 11 but as she’ll turn 12 in the school academic year next July she starts high school this September

They probably realised that her constant snarky and sarkiness with everybody was getting a bit tiresome and they needed to show a softer side for once, especially with NuRuby. She totally dominated old Ruby and probably needed to show a more big sisterly role this time so it shows them working together for a change

I was going on the actress’ appearance only, I figured she was young from her acting ability. I do think the new actress is more age appropriate.

They’ll never be a better sibling pairing than Sarah and David, even from way back and the squabbling it’s so funny on the classic episodes and they’re partnership comes across brill on screen
