Why are they decorating when apparently all the plug sockets are in the wrong place? Looks like our house pre reno. We had to re plumb and rewire the whole place. So that meant replastering. That was all done at the end as the whole place had to be taken back to brick, extensions built, celler converted. All decorating etc was done at the end 😵‍💫. Are the plug sockets being left as is? They can't even afford a fairly cheap polyprop carpet to put down as an interim measure? That would almost be cheaper than sanding and staining the boards and warmer. That's going tk be quite important given they don't seem to be able to afford to replumb and sort out the central heating system.

Wasn't that interior designer bloke round designing a bar in that room? Has that all been abandoned? What a waste of his time - albeit the bar made it look like a very minor country house hotel so it's best abandoned. What about the people who brought all the cast iron rads round in a van? Was that a waste of time too?

Pleased for the children that at least there will be one warm and clean-ish room though.

I'm wondering if they are getting it a bit in shape to see about selling - don't want to spend too much as they might off load it if possible but don't want to live in a total dump in the interim.

Looks like they floor and stove people haven't coughed up but there's a last attempt at a final beg. Classy

hit many nails on the head here. ha ha Katie, you’ve royally stuffed up with this purchase because you’re such a Veruca Salt

This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
why on earth didn’t they start this room years ago as it’s just a deco job? Then their children would have had a warm, clean comfortable room to hang about in.
She’s still banging on about not being able to afford things like flooring? How can she not see how utterly ridiculous she sounds when they have spent so much money on holidays this year alone. They clearly can afford it!
I don’t understand the constant to’s and fro’s - one minute she’s got a high end radiator company bringing her samples on site in a bespoke van next minute she’s saying they can’t afford floor?

What on earth will be the excuse for waiting for 2.5 years before doing dome fairly basic redecorating and putting in what looks like (per the CAD) some pretty ordinary John Lewis furniture - presumably free?!

It's blatantly obvious - or appears to be the case - that this is net result of 2.5 years worth of unsuccessful begging. How mortifying

I also think going on a £25k holiday whilst you apparently can't afford a cheap carpet is not indicative of responsible partenting in any shape or form. Anyone reading that knows it and judges - even more embarassing

I need to look at the floor plans again but I think it would be possible to reconfigure internally with a bit of knocking through and perhaps a small extension to have a kitchen/diner/living room. No need for the hideous glass box that actually means no wall space for units etc so is totally impractical. That would save considerably and mean they could get the place rewired/replumbed and central heating sorted out. What a pair of absolute wallys.

When I saw Drippy painting that wall paper like a mad man after coming home from 10 clinics a week I knew that he had cracked and said can't live in tit tip towers for another 5 years whilst Katie stays in bed unsuccessfully begging brands in between cruises with Mizzle the slave.

None of it makes sense, the cost of her luxury holidays over the last year at at least 50k I reckon would easily have paid for that room to be properly decorated, sorry renovated. Things like getting electrics sorted and a decent heat source installed, at least in one room if they can’t stretch to the whole house would be sensible. But we only have to look at the disaster of the smug house to know they are far from sensible

It’s the same with the oven and the kitchen. Even if she was always planning to rip out and demolish I don’t understand for almost 3 years why you wouldn’t get a safe functioning oven and just put some storage in if needed?
This place is now being done up to sell, if possible. I don't belive anything has been going on behind the scenes bar prep work which has been done by them hence why they don't want to show it.

Any work they do, they will do reluctantly if they have to pay for it becasue they won't have the money to do what they really want. If brands fund, great. But, if not, which seems very likely, then they have to pay themselves.

I think the delay - which is still ongoing - is considering whether to make the investment to do the glass box kitchen. Yes - that will be what they want by the rest of the house still needs to be done. Plus building control will be all over the electrics so that will need attention through the whole house and be dusty and messy. So do they invest in that?

I think they will tart it up as best they can and see if they can sell. If not, they will reluctantly stay and do what they can in terms of more major renos. It will be a nightmare and take years and years

What a situation to find themselves in, all because of Katie’s desires to have the ‘most’ of something.
With the Smug house also not making the money they expected, then surely Katie will take a look at some of her decisions? Still doesn’t add up that they continue to have expensive holidays when they can’t afford basics

Agree with those saying they're decorating to sell. I think he's put his foot down and wants somewhere nice for the kids to live. I bet they've been really miserable the last couple of years.
I hope any potential buyers follow her and see that she's basically painting over the cracks. I hope the bottom is falling out of the give-me-a-load-of-free-stuff-for-my-home market. It's about time.

So let me get this straight, they didn’t get planning for the slide but went ahead anyway, despite I imagine her architects advising against it?! That’s madness, it must have cost a fortune to fabricate the steel and to install it?! The arrogance and entitlement to have it because Katie wanted to basically show off on Instagram! I bet her neighbours complained and reported it! 😂

If you have a read of Marlborough Parish councils meeting minutes you will see lots of complaints about the smug house
Oh my God! Shades of Handforth Parish Council - READ THE STANDING ORDERS. READ THEM AND UNDERSTAND THEM!

😂😂. My husband has just asked if I want to watch a 90 Day Fiance but I've just said I can't as I'll be too busy looking up the Marlborough Parish council minutes 😂😂

Oh my God. Well I found it and then checked the planning application and objections.

This is the slide! Those poor neighbours. Some have small children and one is the local Methodist Chapel 🙈. The planning officer who wrote the report points out that the house is advertised as having a gin bar and do they need an alcohol license?!

All joking aside, this has clearly been an utter nightmare for the neighbours with noise/rubbish and fireworks. Some of whom have thatched roofs and are worried about the fire pit. Plus having to look at that slide which is accurately described as an "oversized commercial funnel". By the way, the house is in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Someone in one report describes it as a flagrant breach of planning laws. Unbelievable

The slide from the neighbour's view is horrific and shows and utter disregard for anyone in the area.
No wonder they don't go their holidays, the neighbour's must absolutely hate them. Not a very relaxing holiday!
