So what will happen to the Rovers if Alec’s leaving on 30 December…that seems like a hasty decision too (going by the Alec and Rita storyline). Is this where Natalie takes over the pub, using Des’s life insurance?Hour long Xmas ep tomorrow!!
I think it was abit tight of jack and Vera all of a sudden going away at Xmas, busiest time of year for pubs!!
I think it could be!So what will happen to the Rovers if Alec’s leaving on 30 December…that seems like a hasty decision too (going by the Alec and Rita storyline). Is this where Natalie takes over the pub, using Des’s life insurance?
They’re just employees now are they (I sometimes fall asleep and delete the episodes when I haven’t watched them all ) maybe they keep working there for a while?I think it could be!

Yes they are employees, I can't remember if they stayed on or move out! They’re just employees now are they (I sometimes fall asleep and delete the episodes when I haven’t watched them all ) maybe they keep working there for a while?
I think both Jack and Vera had spells of ill health long before they passed away so I wonder if them going away is another hastily re-written script
Won't be long before Natalie buys the Rovers and the Duckys have to leave as she wants to live there alone.Yes they are employees, I can't remember if they stayed on or move out!
Natalie doesn’t deserve any money from Des.I hope his brother comes backs and fights her for some of the cash.Plus would Des have changed his will in just 5 weeks of marriage.Doubt that very much.Is this how Jack and Vera end up in the Mallet householdWon't be long before Natalie buys the Rovers and the Duckys have to leave as she wants to live there alone.
I said life insurance money but she did sell her house to move into Park Bench HQ with Des - not sure if money from a house would be enough to buy a pub though?Natalie doesn’t deserve any money from Des.I hope his brother comes backs and fights her for some of the cash.Plus would Des have changed his will in just 5 weeks of marriage.Doubt that very much.Is this how Jack and Vera end up in the Mallet household
Ah, poor Alf looked so frailJudy Mallet is doing Christmas Turkey impressions.
Alf's last Xmas in Weatherfield, having been around since 1961.
Just as Alf and Alec depart Weatherfield for good, Blanche returns for a regular stint that lasts into the 2010's. The first time she has been a regular since the late 70's.
It was a nice house that Natalie sold, filming in it took place in Disbury, a sought after area of Manchester.I said life insurance money but she did sell her house to move into Park Bench HQ with Des - not sure if money from a house would be enough to buy a pub though?
Thanks for the info Ingress, lots to look forward to!1999....
Don't forget in addition to the already returned Blanche, 1999 will also see the return of Sharon Gaskell (last seen in 1984), Eunice Gee (last seen in 1982), Norris Cole (last seen in 1997) and Mark Redman (last seen in 1996).
Departures include Alf Roberts, Nick Tilsley, Maud Grimes, Greg Kelly (hooray!!), Lorraine Brownlow, Jackie Dobbs and Judy Mallett.
Tina O'Brien becomes Sarah Lou Platt..
Candice Stowe, Duggie Ferguson and Vinny Sorell arrive.
The six part Coronation Street Special 'After Hours' was aired, featuring Bet, Reg, Vicky, Steve and Vikram. I wonder if ITV3 will repeat it?
Glad though that Blanche is back, loved the scene with her and Peter at AA meeting and stuffed marrow for lunch with DeidrieWill miss Maud I feel they’ve already got rid of a few of the older generation, Percy, Phyllis especially
I can confirm meetings are nothing like that but it’s one of my favourite TV moments ever! She was a great character.Glad though that Blanche is back, loved the scene with her and Peter at AA meeting and stuffed marrow for lunch with Deidrie
