Candice Brathwaite #3

I'm not media savvy but surely most people know that that is not how media works? It is rife with cut throat nepotism, it isn't a charitable association, their MO is to make as much money as possible. Even Black people (shock, horror) can think like this. Historically presenters are not affected by the issues they cover, only fairly recently has it become an issue about able bodied presenters covering topics that affect people with disabilities. The media has never been and probably never will be about fair representation.

I’ve thought about this a few times reading this thread. This is in no means denying the v true aspects of racism / colourism / classism / thin privilege / pretty privilege etc etc and all the other things that give Rochelle privilege over CB, but the idea that any media job is won on ability is v wishful thinking? It’s the same boring bastards (Ant, Dec, Holly, Phil) on every bleeping show & Rochelle having been on daytime has entered that roster that’ll be cycled through til we’re all bleeping dead 😫

This isn’t relevant to CB’s beef here at all but wrt some people liking her hence her getting the opportunities, I wouldn’t say most of the presenters we see everywhere are particularly well loved and we still have to endure them 😂

Do we think she will do her fashion segment when Rochelle next presents Lorraine then?!!

Indeed. Sounds like a familiar pattern of behaviour right?
And I’m loving the fact the article says Braithwaite not Brathwaite cos it bugs the crap out of her, remember the rant she had saying she was gonna go mad about people saying it wrong, then next day she was on Lorraine and got called Braithwaite , yep it would annoy me if my name was pronounced wrong but I wouldn’t make a song and dance about it

No I totally agree that colourism and racism is definitely an issue, but was just making the point that the media has never been about aligning the most appropriate people for the job, they assign the most suitable person that they deem will bring in the most profits. I'm not saying it is right, but it's the way it has always been.

I've thought about this today too, it is the same boring bastards and they have a very tight management and clique. I would have been very careful to ensure I had my facts right before making claims about Rochelle, who appears to be in that clique.

Whilst I understand the fury that would come from being replaced, and agree with the issues surrounding this...had it been true.
I would definitely have checked my facts first before saying anything.

I think some of the problem comes from the vacuum of opinion that exists on Instagram. Influencers can say anything and then delete any negativity. Once these comments are lifted off Instagram they have a life of their own and the influencer can't control the narrative. So you need to be very careful to check and double check your info before making claims!

*Hope that makes sense!

I'm sorry but I can't believe she thought she would be presenting a documentary. On the telly. Come on, it takes years to be able to present serious documentaries. Rochelle and Emma Willis are only just moving into it and they are already famous. Do people jump from insta to presenting?? Because most presenters maintain that it takes years for that jump it doesn't happen overnight and you have to take a few tit presenting jobs first...

It looks as if it was producer versus producer (looking at Twitter). TV always goes for no controversy and if CB has her heart set on TV then she may need to self produce and sell her own programmes, rather than hope prime time channels pick her up. Even Schofield "coming out" was not a shock to anyone so absolutely uncontroversial.

Makes sense to me, at the end of the day whilst highlighting a very very important subject the producers want viewers and ratings and a well known face will win out more than an instagrammer and author.
cliques will be rife in celebrity circles, you see same faces all the time cos they get the audiences
then again you get cliques in insta world too, look how quickly the huns often massage each other’s egos ....but the more high profile you aim to be biting your tongue is needed instead of the act now attitude

Now I can’t stand the woman, she’s a nakedly shameless drama queen and money grabber buuuut.....

She is of Barbadian descent, I am from Barbados (I went to school with Braithwaites) and it is pronounced Brath-waite there, no-one’s ever heard of Brayth-waite until they come to the UK! And it’s annoying when people get your name wrong.

Never mind me, she’s awful imho, but colourism does exist and should be eradicated, but she’s a fearful idiot. Carry on!

What I find funny is the people shouting loudest for Candice on twitter even now after she's posted to clear things see it as validation that they were right and she's been royalty screwed over. Peoole really can read anything and interpret it how they want to 😶

If anybody was looking to work with Candice for anything more serious than modeling fast fashion on Lorraine her antics with this show why they'd be justified to avoid her.

I think a lot of people who fawn over her actually fear her. This is the woman who threatened to rip another woman's throat through her vagina.

when was this?!

On her insta stories. She'd had a phone call from the school to say that a child in her daughter's class said to her she couldn't play with her as her skin was too dark. CB said she wanted to do the above to the girl's mother. A very upsetting incident obviously, but she didn't even know the girl or her mother. It was also a very bad idea to film this.

ETA: I'm not 100% sure that it was in relation to this event, but it was definitely said about some woman.

Good old Candice. Never fails to let you down with her typical bullish, nasty behaviour.

Decants vague information, watches everyone gets worked up on her behalf, causes someone to receive hassle and grief and abuse then comes back to say what she meant after the damage had been done.

Absolute cock.

And there was the "punch her right the way through to her oesophagus" iirc!

I wish tattle had of been around then and someone uploaded the video

Yes, I'd forgotten about that one!

This sums it up. After the scales fell from my eyes i said she was the Black version of Cash Carraway.

I feel a bit sorry for Rochelle Humes here. She’s being torn to shreds on Twitter.

I absolutely appreciate the view that they should have used a black woman to present the documentary but CB isn’t a TV presenter or a documentary maker so slightly perturbed that people think she should have been first choice. They don’t usually use an academic or expert on a subject for example to present a documentary; they may contribute but it’s usually fronted by someone with experience.
