Candice Brathwaite #3

1
Candice was never asked to present it, she was simply asked last year to take part - as in, be a mum telling her story for Rochelle to interview. Rochelle was always going to present it from the start. Candice was clearly confused. Read her post again people, she didn't mention presenting it because she was never asked to, she just assumed that's what the programme makers wanted. She then snubbed the programme makers when they approached her again recently by saying she didn't want to just be featured as a mum telling her birth story, but wanted to present the whole show and if she couldn't take over Rochelles role then she didn't want to participate at all. Here we are.
Ahhhhhhh this will be fruitful

Sorry, just re-read the post as you said and CB did mention presenting. She said up until 6 weeks ago, she thought she was going to be presenting it. But you're right, it could have been confusion as to what her role was as it wasn't firmed up?

Seems like filming only started relatively recently which could explain why only 6 weeks ago she was notified of the supposed change?

Again, will make her come back very interesting... (if the prod team do release a statement as you said)

ETA, can you confirm if the documentary was inspired by CB's book? i.e. whether she played a sort of consultative role in development?
Someone floated that idea on Twitter - hadn't thought of that before. Could also explain why she thought she was presenting?

I'm so not shocked that Candice gaslit people into thinking she was robbed of something due to the colour of her skin! Gets women to attack each other and promote herself at the same time. She's not a presenter so of course she was never offered the job, the woman felt entitled to it despite not having the presenter skills needed. Nasty Candice. I really wish there was better woc than her. She only ever cares about herself.

Candice statement reads, 'up until six weeks ago I thought I was going to present that documentary'.
What made her think she was going to present it as opposed to share her story?
I'm trying to understand how someone can become confused about something big like presenting a documentary as opposed to simply participating?

It will be interesting to hear the programme makers side for sure.

This summarises it, so it’s a completely different documentary. The fact the producer had to contact her shows how much tit she’s stirred up

I also think that that doula is right. This shouldn't be the cause of enmity and infighting between Black women. I also think that this is such a pertinent issue that needs to be addressed, and whoever has the biggest reach is likely to make the most impact, and that is the most important thing here. It was like when Amanda Holden spoke out about stillbirth compared to Sally down the street; Amanda was able to create much more awareness which is the whole point. From looking Rochelle has x10 the following that CB does.

Exactly "I thought"
Perhaps asking her to take part equated to presenting in her mind? Who knows. 6 weeks ago is when she realised they actually just wanted to interview her about her experiences. A lesson learned I guess, she's knew to the limelight.

What I’m failing to understand is the comments in the replies to the new Instagram post are saying things like “it’s even worse” - make it make sense. I thought the original outrage was that they replaced her with a light skin woman (anger there is totally understandable if that was true) as she made it sound like it was her documentary she was being replaced on and now it turns out they were two different projects and people are still mad? I don’t understand what there is to be mad about? maybe I’m missing something

So she is now clarifying that she was contacted by a DIFFERENT production company, so this means that she was never in the running? Funny how people in the comments are saying "we know it's the same company, they are just lying". Anyway, it's all exposure and publicity for her, she'll probably get a new round of followers.

From what I understand, people are pissed because
1) CB was mined for knowledge on a traumatic issue and then dumped (i.e. no guarantee of commission especially given her work in this are - the book + her insta. pls correct me if I've missed anything else)

2) The line about preferring the presenter to be removed from the situation discussed, proves to RH has no real tie to this documentary beyond the cheque she's going to get. Which is disappointing given how serious the issue at hand is. I think people are also annoyed because RH is mixed-race, not black (mentioned this in a previous post) and gave birth privately.

Sidenote: the producer wanting the presenter to be removed from the situation discussed is odd, because it was said on twitter somwhere that the producer/production company behind this documentary is Black. it's an all Black team.

How embarrassing that there were 2 completely different production companies. I think Candice has been very unprofessional in not fact checking before going in on Rochelle Humes. I can’t imagine that any producers will be jumping to work with her after this outburst. Like it or not, Rochelle Humes is an accomplished presenter and will attract a broad audience whilst handling the issue sensitively. The colour of her skin is irrelevant.

ah okay I see, thank you for explaining that!

The presenter doesn’t need to have been part of the issue and can still be part of an all black team.
