Some of you need to get different jobs, I had a week off work when my cat died and they sent me flowers. There's even jobs advertised now where you get bereavement leave in the case of pets.
Which is fine in some industries but unfortunately teachers, nurses, doctors can’t just stop doing their jobs because their pet died, you get 15 mins to have a cry in an office and then you have to put your game face on. Imagine you’re waiting for your surgery or referral and it magically got cancelled because they were off for their pets death, yes it’s nice your jobs does it but it just doesn’t work like that for some sectors in the UK

So I’ve looked back at a couple of my old posts…

1) 20th March - she had already removed the picture of Bonnie from her bedside cabinet…maybe because it was too upsetting for Brog to see each day as it filled her with guilt for the abandonment

2) March 27th - she had already removed Bonnie from her Insta bio?!…I only added or amended the information and didn’t remove anything at all from it

I feel more for MeJulie, she seemed to look after Bonnie more than B&B especially when the initial excitement and interest wore off for Brog

I hope dogs homes do proper background checks on people incase these two attempt to adopt another content dog in the future. she seems too selfish to buy a puppy but with Ben seemingly not going back to work and puppies drawing more clicks... I could see it happening

Thank you, I knew I wasn’t going mad!! I’m not one for conspiracy theories but that CANT possibly be a coincidence!?

Yeah I was gonna say…I work in healthcare & recently a colleague got less than a week for the death of a parent & when he was back in, it was straight into full pressure, no easing him back in. The public sector in the UK works like that, I think you’re allowed 2 weeks off for a close relative but in reality with shift work, lack of staff etc it just doesn’t work like that.

They absolutely should not get cats. I have a ragdoll and he's like a little puppy, follows me from room to room. Cats still miss their owners when you're away and can get separation anxiety. The absolute guilt I felt when I went on holiday for 2 weeks and had to put him in a cattery, and that's once a year! These two shouldn't even be allowed a house plant
oh trust me I say this with someone with 2 cats. I miss them the second I leave the house. But as a general rule cats are more independent then dogs.

Poor Bonnie, abandoned by both of her owners. Her previous owners and BandB

They do. The SSPCA (Scottish version of RSPCA) do very stringent checks on people, especially those wanting to adopt a dog. They ask a tit load of questions about your job, house, if you’ve a garden, all sorts. However none of this applies if you go to gumtree and get your dog off there. They’d never have been able to adopt one otherwise

Yeh why was she on gumtree in the first place? Anyone know?

Why is everyone saying its a 3 month cruise? It was 2 months..
Still a long time of course

I think a lot of us are factoring in when they left the UK. It was early February so they were gone about 2.5 months.

Not in Canada. You get a handful of days for spouse/children/parents, 1-2 days for other family, and nothing for pets or anyone else. When my first Westie was sick and it was time to help him cross the rainbow bridge, I scheduled it for a Thursday before a bank holiday weekend so I could have the extra long weekend to grieve, took vacation days for the Thursday and Friday and was back at work on Tuesday. I really don’t want to even think about it with Max the Westie yet since he’s only just turned 10 and

I already know that when the time comes that my parents pass if I’m not yet retired, I’ll have to take a leave of absence to 1. Cope and 2. Sort their affairs and help my remaining parent.

Unfortunately, not all jobs or companies have the option for massive bereavement time and even federal government labour laws don’t.

I agree she was absolutely awful to get a dog and then leave her as often as she did (we didn't go on holiday for YEARS because our elderly cat, we couldn't stand to have him in a cattery), BUT I don't think Bonnie died of a broken heart or felt abandoned. The fact is Brogan left Bonnie with her mum/brother MANY times, I suspect Bonnie just felt MeJulie's place was an extension of her family/home anyway. Probably had a far better time there, too.

A few days, maybe a week for the death of a beloved pet, possibly would be ok in my workplace (with the right manager.) At the end of weeks of holiday…. Would be less likely.

A few weeks? No chance without a Drs note for bereavement affecting your MH and ability to work. Most people wouldn’t even ask for this unless they were beside themselves.

Influencers just live in such an odd world but don’t recognise their privelege.

I’ve already told my work I’ll need some days off when my boy passes. He kept me going during some of the darkest times of my life, my little fluffy rock. I’ll be devastated when he crosses. As the saying goes, they’re only here for a fraction of our life, but to them, we are their whole life

This is why they had to go through the back door and “adopt” off Gumtree because there’s no way an adoption agency would have permitted them to have a dog with their lifestyle of constantly bleeping off

Spot on. I’ve been looking at rehoming or buying a puppy for a year, still doing research to make sure I get the right breed and it’s the right thing for the dog. She would never be approved for rehoming because she’s always on holiday.

If my job meant I travelled, I wouldn’t get any pet. It’s not fair at all, but I guarantee she will buy a puppy after this.

If they got off the ship in Tenerife I wonder if they got pickpocketed. Worldwide Womack's done a post about stopping a pickpocket. Brogan would be such an easy target with her many bags.

Also what time did she post the update yesterday? Are we really supposed to believe Bonnie was PTS between all aboard in Tenerife on Thursday evening and yesterday morning?
