Honestly if half the current pop girlies busted out that routine stan twitter would be hyping it up. The bar is currently on the floor.

Absolutely Britney's worst though. She and her team should never have let it happen, anyone looking at the rehearsal would have known it would be piled on because of how good her previous VMA performances were. She didn't have the same spark, putting her in that bikini combo was heinous, the choreo was shit. And the rehearsal was a better than the actual performance! Should have pulled her last minute.

Re: the bikini, Britney's story in TWiM is that there was "problem" with her wig and costume and It Was Not Her Fault. The Rolling Stone article from that period disputes that, Ken Paves had designed a really elaborate extension set/wig for her and she didn't show up in time to have it properly attached, and she refused to wear the custom corset dress which was supposed to go over the lingerie. It was, of course, all Britney's choice.

Also, at 2:54 apparently the original choreo was to have Britney be lifted up and spun around by her dancers, and she refused to do this because reasons.

If its true that she was forced to sit through hours of hair and make up and hated it, it tracks why she wouldn't want anyone touching her hair. But imo they had a duty of care that night to stop her from making a fool of herself worldwide and pull her from the show. Instead they just let the disaster happen. Gross.

Cautionary tale of why you don't always listen to the talent. Any sensible manager would have cancelled. Amy Winehouse's did.

I wonder if she'd be in the same place she is now if they'd done the right thing and stopped that performance. The downfall after it was huge, few months later she was with a pap with a receding hairline, too much gel, and a shit beard. Beginning of the end for Brit.

I remember reading an article as well that said that she only wanted Ken Paves' assistant to do her hair, not Ken himself. The assistant refused, out of loyalty to Ken, and they left her to it.

Christina was pissed off that the cameras switched to Justin when she kissed Madonna!

I rewatched that 2007 VMA performance. They did Britney dirty with the bikini outfit but I thought the choreography and singing had more life than the crap that passes as 'performing' now.

she talks about him in the book as if he was the greatest guy and her family ruined everything by not allowing her to be with him, In this one case ,they have probably done her a favor

I don't want to try and diagnose her since I've never met her, but she sounds like she has BPD along with whatever else might be going on. Sharp cutoffs with anyone who wrongs her. Desperation for love. Intense unstable relationships with men. Explosive anger, like going after the pap with an umbrella. Impulsivity like her marriage.

The conservatorship, at least how she describes it, would be intensely damaging to someone like that.

you seem to be super invested in Britney, and thats great. Can you also see how she isnt doing herself any favours? This website isnt the media, and her posting herself naked is not her being empowered, and it isnt sexist to say so. She is going down a very serious path and with no intervention she is going to end up dead. That is how mental illness works. People are allowed to have opinions about it, and say what they think. None of what she is doing will help her situation with her children-and that is allegedly "her life" and they are so important to her. Yet she continues to behave like this.
