Bridgerton

Oooo travelling across the world tut tut lol I wonder if they're getting ready to film season 2?
As for Benedict he's not supposed to be bi in the books its just the artist who's gay with that lord, so unlikely to be but I'm not sure whether the actor is so that might have a bit of an impact but they've not really been following the books and going all diverse. I love it
I thought he was in the UK anyway??

Yeah I think they're loosely following the books which is why I think there is potential for him to explore that path. I think he'll still end up with who he is supposed to but experiment beforehand

He lives in america.
They're following the books quite well but they're being accused of queer baiting for suggesting he would have a gay fling when theres no plans for it

Oh I didn't realise, I thought he was in the UK as they've started preparing for filming s2 and been having outfit fittings etc, so he could just be here long term until filming is over!

Well I guess we don't actually know what the plans are yet until it comes out to it, people are just guessing and jumping the gun I think

It's a shame Rege won't really be in the second series. I'll be honest the books are terribly written in my opinion. The actors were killing themselves laughing trying to read out certain scenes, so thankfully they may change things but they're not going to completely change the character, though the pregnant girl her story was different to the books.

Rége will be on Graham Norton tomorrow night, for all those who appreciate him. I was in the virtual audience tonight.

I thought Benedict was going to get with the chap who he walked in on..I think you're right and it may be explored in another series.
I always wondered how long taping took!! How long could you all watch as part of the live audience?

We saw the whole thing - a warm up , the show and breaks in between certain segments and then after the end credits he says thank you and bye. It took a bit over an hour and a half, around an hour and fourty, although apparently it depends on each show. I've done it before, but years ago. I had to mute at certain points to take breaks, you know..to get a drink or go to the loo.

Thanks for the information re: the books. I was tempted to read them but maybe I'll just wait for the series. Ha!

One more, sorry!
When did taping start?

Yeah I fully believe it depends, I remember years ago Graham was telling some anecdotes and he said someone was so drunk, he came super late so they had to keep going forever till that person came.. And another is (I think) Mark Wahlberg, who got so drunk he fell asleep on the couch and they just continued!!! 😂 🤦‍♀️

No problem! It started at 7pm. They said in the email gave an estimated finish of 9 but it was a bit sooner. I'm going to watch tomorrow to see what they cut as GN definitely gives plenty of time to each guests to speak. Alan Carr was on it too, as funny as usual!

Oh gosh, I think Mark Wahlberg was one of the most memorable guests with his drinking and falling asleep...and sititing on Graham's lap and tweaking his nipples.

Tbf I don't think the books are awful, there's lot worse out there but I think they're quite adolescent. In some parts I felt like I was reading a fan fiction and was aimed at more younger people however I did enjoy them. My mum also did and they're easy going, you can read them within a day! The 2nd book is my fave so I can't wait for the series to come out 🤩

I definitely think the tv show has adapted it well and I hope S2 has as much success as season 1 if they do it right! I think the show will add in its own spins too and not just stick to tje book, which is why I wouldn't be surprised if we see some LGBTQ in there at some point.

I said the same it's as if it was a period version of gossip girl fanfiction
We will see lgbt but not the main characters

I've watched them all now but I'm not sure I actually care for any of the characters tbh. I loved the sets, the costume and the cinematography but plot wise....I just don't seem to really care for anyone. Does anyone recommend the books? Do you think the plots will be good as it carries on?

I bought the book and hate it so far. I’m not that far in (only to about where the Duke and Daphne dance at the ball for the first time), so it might get better but I’m barely making progress as the writing style is not my cup of tea and it’s quite boring

That’s a shame, I love Regency love stories in general but I just felt detached from all from all the characters in this adaptation. If pushed my favourites I guess would be Lady Danbury and possibly Penelope. I think it’s probably because it’s been a bit hyped as a story, but on the other hand I do like that it’s provided people escapism in this rubbish time, and I did enjoy the decor, costumes etc.

ETA: If the book is a bit boring then I’ll probably give it a miss, I don’t like starting a big series unless I’ve heard they are all good.

Despite my previous misgiving about Eloise I think hers might be the only story that I’d be interested in following, as I think she’d try to break several social moulds.

I am finding this too! I'm so disappointed because I love this kind of stuff normally. It's just not the easy read I was hoping for!

Just saw this on Insta. Think the second series will struggle a bit more with ratings without the Duke of Hastings!!

Not a massive surprise as the Duke is hardly in the second book or any of the subsequent ones, I guess the actor is a bit too much of a star to play a bit part now. I prefer the Viscount anyway so I won’t miss him too much, but I know there will be plenty who will!

I haven’t read the books but I can see that his role is pretty much done now they’re fairly happily married! He’s an attractive man but I too prefer Antony! But I know lots of people have very strong feelings about the Duke 🤣

There's going to be a lot of very disappointed viewers out there if there's no Duke of Hastings.

I had no idea it was based on books until recently and I think most viewers will be unaware. They are going to tune in expecting Rege and his marvellous bottom to appear. Given his success in the show I'm surprised they didn't right him into it.
