Bridgerton

Tbf his role in season 2 and beyond would have been very very limited as I would understand so getting out early wasn’t that much of a bad choice

I mean, in an industry where people remember who is nice to work with and who isn't, and it affects whether they want to work with you again, it would seem to me like if it isn't a huge lift to be on set for a couple of days to shoot two or three scenes, again like Jonathan did, you should just do it. The way the cast and producers talk about Jonathan and Phoebe versus how they talk, if at all, about Rege says it all for me.

I don't see it as being about making money or getting lots of recognition, but about leaving doors open and showing some level of gratitude/loyalty to the team and vehicle that gave you a broadly recognizable name.

Same. I am certain Nicola and Luke have got it on in real life. Their touchy feely behaviour at press goes beyond good PR in my view. He might have a girlfriend now but I’m not sure he did while they were filming, which was 18 months ago. There’s also a millisecond in the carriage scene where he licks her neck and I just have this feeling it was him getting carried away and not scripted.

These new photos made me think of your comment.

I'm 2 episodes in and I haven't read the books and I just hate this season's storyline already. Is it just me? Chubby lass eventually gets wet man to give in and go out with her just isn't my idea of romance? I'd much rather someone came and swept her off her feet and left Colin regretting everything. She's so lovely and going to be stuck with this twit who doesn't care. Justice for my girl Penelope. 😭

(I know I'm overly invested in a very stupid trashy TV show)

Hmmm not sure I'd put too much stock in that to be honest. I have a friend who encountered Jonathan Bailey in a professional manner (fashion) and JB wasn't this humble nice guy he appears to be. Not a horrible person, but made people wait then not show, wasted peoples time, loved being centre of attention etc etc

Ohhh I liked your comment then got to the bit where you said she’s lovely then had to unlike 😂 I do agree that it’s a crappy storyline tho!

Just seen a Netflix ad of Nicola & Luke reviewing Colin & Penelope’s first kiss and Luke looks much better with a bit of facial hair.
My expectations were low having read here before watching S3 but I didn’t think it was too bad. Agree Colin does need a bit more facial expression (do we think he’s overdone it on the Botox?) but I did generally get the idea that he was setting himself up as a lothario then after kissing Pen and watching her with the other dude he realises he loves her. I think the other guy was nice but boring, probably would still have stuck with Colin if it were me 😂

He is proof that sometimes it's the character and not just the actor himself. The Duke was *the moment* for him. It all aligned for him. I've watched all his other stuff and he is fine but he doesn't stand out and the actual movies have been tit (I still resent the hours lost to The Grey Man).

I think he could have easily managed to be back for S2 in a limited capacity and do the other things he filmed, like Jonathan Bailey did for S3. He just didn't want to, which fair enough but did feel like he thought he was better than Bridgerton and reality then took it upon itself to show him he wasn't.
His name was being thrown around for Bond wasn’t it, around the time Bridgerton came out? He might still be in with a chance but I feel he’s rather a one trick pony tbh

Finally watched the first four episodes (and avoided nearly all spoilers). If I hadn‘t watched with a friend I don‘t think I would have even bothered. Super boring. I am looking forward to the Francesca storyline so had high hopes for her but well… give us nothing girl 😂
Pen and Colin were so cringed and I hate the carriage scene. She‘s an inexperienced virgin and he pulls that? Nah. Could have just made out a lil and then give us a scene in a bed where he actually takes his time.
Also the M-something family - why did they have such a big role? I can‘t even remember their name so obviously I don‘t care about them at all.

Yeah, I don't recall seeing his name floated in the more recent options that included Aaron Taylor Johnson so his time might have come and gone. He's very pretty to look at but I don't think he's a great actor or anything.

Like Luke Thompson (Benedict) and Jonathan Bailey are genuinely good actors with range who will probably have long, successful careers even if they never reach the fever peak the Duke created.

Have I missed something with the boxer chappy? Why are him and his wife such a prominent storyline this season?

Bit of a mystery 🤣

Among the possible options: Shondaland wanted to have a stable couple where both parties are POC and keeping them in the fringes of the ton was getting harder; it's foreshadowing for what could happen to the Featheringtons in that estates can go to totally random people; the producers wanted some continuity from S1; something else.

I don't mind them but I would have preferred to have some of their screen time cut short in favor of more of the actual main couple or even Francesca and her earl.

Maybe we'll understand when the second half drops... Or maybe it's just classic Shonda bloating up projects and offering tons of characters with superficial plots instead of streamlining them and giving us better character arcs for fewer characters.

Interestingly just saw video/photo of Nicola and Luke arriving at the premiere in Rio and the body language has cooled significantly compared to the NY, Milan, etc events.

QueenBW - I’ll hope for the former but it will probably be the latter 😂 thing is I can barely remember him/them from previous seasons so not really much invested.

I’ve just finished ep 2 and I hAve to admit I’m in the minority and I’m loving colin and Penelope - I’m a sucker for friends to lover tropes.

I still think they're plenty flirty. It's their job for the next month basically.

True, I just noticed that he in particular has created space between them in some of the pictures. And he’s angling his body forward rather than towards her in some of the poses. It’s subtle but there. That poor girlfriend of his must have completely had enough of it all !
