If they are 18 or over then crack on.
I respectfully completely and utterly disagree with you. If there is an allegation of IIOC, you can guarantee it would be looked into, unless information has been put to them that disproves what the Sun reported. Wouldn't be the first time a newspaper has printed something that later trs out to be sensationalisd

Ha the met police don't 'look into' anything ever. It's standard for them to say in all circumstances there's no case to answer and no crime to record or investigate. The only people who get action from the met police are people who use law enforcement to force the police's hand.

thank you. I've been through a lot with my work (waiting for the confidence to call ACAS after a clear constructive dismissal) recently and the calling out of "he's been flown to a cushty rehab" based on his wife's statement is just a bit close to the bone after having been told it's all my own fault (I havent actually done anything wrong though unlike huw). We don't have the ability to say he isn't feeling the worst of the worst based on this week. I'm rambling, sorry.

I received a constructive dismissal email too. I didn't even realise fully that, that is what it was in the first place. The whole situation was horrific. No one could believe it had been put in writing. If I had been stronger, I could have took them to the cleaners but they really wore me down and I couldn't do it.

It does get better, I promise. It's bleeping exhausting going through it all 💖

Info from a friend in the industry:
Porn is made with the adult consent of all involved. Children cannot give such consent and making images of children is a criminal act. CP is a sub-genre where adults who appear to be underage play child roles.

IIOC is a category of illegal images completely separate to the porn industry and includes all children under 18.

OMG you are badly informed. CP is CP. I think what you mean is 'barely legal' styled porn which is played by adults who look young.

Almost afraid to ask this *battens down the hatches*

for those that are already adamant there should be further consequences for Huw, and assuming the current status of no evidence of illegal activity remains to be true, would you be satisfied if he loses his job over the inappropriate work conduct? If not what else would you expect to happen/like to see happen?

if *nothing* else emerges, I think he should lose his job. I don’t think he should be given another one in the public eye, or reporting news.

if other things emerge, that he made employees of the BBC uncomfortable, that he contributed to a toxic work culture or if he behaved illegally and solictied pictures from teenagers, then I’d expect him to be investigated and charged for any offences uncovered.

what I think will happen in reality? He’ll be told to weather out the scandal and then concoct a story a la-Phil, about struggling with his sexuality and he made an error of judgement, and he’s oh so very sorry. he’ll maybe lose his BBC gig Short term but they’ll find another slot for him later down the line with the collective public memory forgets what happened. Meanwhile the kid whose drug habit he funded, will be forgotten about completely.

Tbh, if he hasn't decided his sexuality by the age of 60, I've no sympathy for him. He may not have committed an offense in the technical legal sense (that we're aware of), but to me he'll always be a sleazy old borderline n c***, simple as.

But surely he deserves some sympathy for becoming a NATIONAL TREASURE even though he didn't get into Oxford??

He didn't admit it to me, his wife did while at a BBQ when she'd had too much wine 😂
That's even worse, how could you admit to your wife you ripped the head off it to anyone else, nevermind someone she now knows and you have contact with!!!

The waters seem to be muddied over this story. Alister Campbell thinks that this has all been blown out of proportion, and sensationalised to make news. I partly agree, however remember this is off the back of the Scofield story, and in recent years, trusted and respected entertainers and broadcasters have been exposed to be predatory criminals, so I think it’s no wonder people want to know if the people they watch on TV, especially those delivering the news, are trustworthy and solid.

It boils down to this, do people want someone reporting on the news who is a married man and father who on the side pays young escorts / drug addicts £35,000 to continue ruining their life, and then seeks out young people online and young coworkers, to be his performing monkeys?

I would say there is a line, and he crossed it.

You are right, he can’t continue in that job. I just wish this had all been sorted out before it went public, he could have taken that voluntary redundancy and we would have been none the wiser. It’s a sad way to end such a distinguished career, the news at ten tonight was like a funeral. It’s really sad for his wife, it’s sad for the young person whose personal business has been splashed all over the news. I’m thoroughly depressed now!

Odd thing to say. As even people on welfare pay VAT and other taxes, last time I checked.
Don't agree it's odd at all ,I never brought up the other sectors, you did.
I mentioned BBC employees directly saying I feel that there should be some adjusted expectations as they are meant to , as public broadcast journalists , act in a manner that is line with the BBC.

His career is over. No one will touch him (or Philth) again now. The BBC are going to have to work hard to try and protect their image.
I can't imagine why they said he hasn't resigned when his wife said he had but I'm very sure he's going to be dismissed. They're always looking to get shot of the highly paid older staff ayway.

I think the point is that the terminology has changed because CP implies that there's a level of consent or possibly joy which obviously isn't the case

Terminology has not changed. I can't imagine what this distorted notion that is being referred to is.

It’s not really ‘odd’ though is it. I’ve always worked so I only know about the tax I pay out of my wages. I don’t have any knowledge about what comes out of benefits etc.

Do you think you are better than people who are on benefits? Personally as someone who has been both rich and poor, I think the people on benefits are mostly better than the George Osbornes, Huw Edwards and Jimmy Saviles of this world. Your mileage may differ.

It's a bit weird to imply that people on benefits don't pay taxes - they do. If a person on benefits buys a cheap meal in McDonald's, or even some cheap de-odorant from Lidl or Aldi, it's taxed!
