. Nothing about him or his brother stands out. Barry was always alright, I mean not the sharpest tool in the box but harmless. His brother was a dick and we hated each other . They lived with their nanny, aunty and cousin, went to Greece for the summer for holidays. They were totally average 
.I knew Barry wanted to act when we were teenagers and had been in the youth club. But again, he was (and in my opinion still is) so bang average I didn’t (and still don’t) see any star quality.

Were they never in foster homes? I’d say they were because that’s a wild thing to totally lie about but 13 homes and the age he was when he says they moved in with his nanny is a lie.

quoting myself to say I’m not diminishing anyone who has parents in addiction. I remember stepping over their dad on the stairs in the flats a few times because he was passed out. That can’t be easy for children to wrap their brains around. But unfortunately it isn’t unusual, especially in those days. I can’t speak for the area now because I moved out as soon as I could.
my uncle remembers their mam as a “beautiful woman. I had a lot of time for her” so that’s nice.

His brother is called Eric, isn't he? Are Barry and Eric normal names for Irish guys in their early 30s? You'd be hard-pushed to find a Barry under 40 here, or an Eric under 70.

yeah his brother is Eric. I’ve seen it reported they’ve a sister called Gemma but she’s their cousin who lived in the house with them.

Yes, Barry and Eric are pretty common names for fellas from Dublin. I know a few in their 20s/30s.

Not a thing except she was deterimental in his starting out. She used to read his scripts for him because of his dyslexia. But I think that’s common knowledge at this stage.
From what I know of him I can’t image him being physical with anyone and that’s a dangerous rumour to put out without basis. But there’s no “right” way for an abuser to present so I can’t comment either way. Emotionally abusive maybe though.

I dunno. I could believe that his manager/publicist has emphasized (perhaps exaggerated) the less "conventional" aspects of his upbringing to distinguish him from his peers. He wouldn't be the first one. But it doesn't sound like you have the tea to truly be calling full-throated bullshit on his story.

We lived in the same flats and are the same age I know how old we were when they moved into their nanny’s. I’m not calling it 100% bullshit, there are totally true aspects and I’m not diminishing anything but I am annoyed that he feels the need to allow his PR team to make his life seem harder than it was for fame. There is absolutely no need.
The truth of the matter is him and Eric had a loving home with their nanny and Lorraine. They went on holiday to Greece for months at a time because someone related to him had a holiday home there, he had the space and the freedom to pursue acting. Considering where both of us are from that is a lot of privilege.
His early life was difficult I’m sure but he leaves out most, if not all of the good and that is where my problem is.

I think the article was badly written. Think he was arrested near by but who knows!!The first part of that article - He was arrested for being drunk on a balcony?!

His brother boxed the head of him in Galway years back. He used to post about him a lot until then so it seems like they never made it up. They aren’t the first set of Irish brothers to throw a punch on a drink fuelled night & they won’t be the last

He definitely lived with his Nan before his Mom died because I remember reading an article about him where he said his Mom came round to their flat and was banging on the door wanting to see him and his Brother, and their Nan wouldn't let her in.I don't doubt he spent time in foster homes,but 13 of them?.
