Hello all, hope everyone is ok.
I’m finding it hysterical she is back! Keeping my mind occupied!
I’ve been diagnosed with osteoarthritis due to my long term steroid treatment, my mum had a stroke but myself and the brother have made up, mainly because my mum was poorly and she didn’t need all this crap. I was the bigger person in the end.
You are all making me laugh on the other thread, much appreciated ❤️

ILYH is the best 💕

Cold and dark here. I know once I get our decorations and lights up, it’ll make things more cheerful. But I’m a strict
not-until-December-ist. I’ve downsized our decor over the years. Now I cut some swags from our evergreen bushes and cedars and lay it on the mantel with some tiny lights, candles, pine cones. I string cranberries old school and drape that above the fireplace. We will put up the tree and decorate with the higgledypiggledy baubles and things we’ve accumulated over the years. You bet there’s ones with the kids’ handprints and glued pasta ornaments from years long past! The last few years, we’ve been using only the top 2/3 of our artificial tree (which dates back to 1998 lol) because it takes up less space. I’m considering using just the very top part and putting it on a small table. If it was good enough for the Victorians… 😆

The “stuff” of Christmas has been on my mind the past few years. The kids are older now so it’s nice to simplify a bit but still enjoy the season.

For those who celebrate, please feel free to share your traditions this time of year. It’ll be an antidote to what’s her nose …

Have to say my tree is up already as we’re away and I couldn’t face doing it when we got back! I too have downsized from what I normally put up but put up more than I intended! Decorations on the tree go from the 60’s to this year. I’m not one to change it according to what I’m told is “in” this year. I’d rather have my memories on there. I make mince pies with the grandchildren and we have a huge family get together with everyone before Christmas because everyone does their own thing with their children on the day itself.
Yours sounds lovely and perfectly special ❤️ xx

Sounds beautiful! We got a new tree this year (artificial) as real trees set my asthma off 😩 it’s already up as it’s pre lit and that’s it!
We have already done one tradition, last Sunday for stir up Sunday! The whole family get together and we all mix the Xmas pud mix and make a wish, so from my mum who’s 72 down to my youngest nephew who is now one. Mother curly had always done it.
I just llllllove it, its my favveeeoirite 😂🤦🏻‍♀️

I don’t really have any Christmas traditions but our tree won’t go up until around the 2nd week of December. It’ll be a nice thing to do in between finishing my current job and starting the new one.

I hope everyone is doing well. Sorry to hear about the osteoarthritis Curly.

jusrol I hope your SAD is getting better.

I must’ve missed the bossbabe memo, what’s ILYH? Is it I love you hens?

Yep I put it further up the thread, good luck with the new job @anniemouse

@anniemouse thank you. I’ve been getting out early for a walk and early daylight exposure (no sun sadly). I am hoping Santa will bring me a SAD lamp, but other than that, I’ve been managing but not made it a priority beyond getting early daylight and exercise. I’ve had a few other unrelated health issues taking my time and attention. It sometimes feels like a game of whack-a-mole … if that makeshh shenshe guyshhh

doing ok though! Thanks for remembering ❤️

How’s everyone doing? I haven’t celebrated Christmas for years but love reading everyone else’s celebrations & traditions. I live alone so I just don’t bother. I did buy a new tree & lights as my lights blew & the tree had seen better days being close to 30 years old. I’m doing a Christmas diamond painting though, to keep my diamond painting pals happy, just a small one. Should be done in a few days as it’s really small (23x29cm). We call those snack-sized. We even had snow here for one day which is highly unusual! Love to see it but my arthritic joints hate it. Sending love to all. D xx
