@sirlancelot if he writes a book I am going to start screaming and never stop. He is such a waste of carbon.

I was re-watching the film ‘Amy’ about her the other night. It mentioned that Rehab was written about an attempt to get her into rehab pre-Blake and pre-drugs to deal with her alcoholism. It was alcohol that liked her, she hadn’t taken drugs in a long time, and also the bulimia pre-dated him too.

Plus it’s easy for the press to point fingers at him when I remember how dreadfully the press hounded Amy, which definitely added to her problems, distracts from their role.

I think the thing with Blake is that a lot of people don’t realise he and his brother went through a lot and had a fucked up childhood. So if you’re pointing fingers of blame, someone fucked him up too.

I dunno. He did his rehab in the city I live in and I used to see him around a lot in the period around Amy’s death. He was a bit of a sad, pitiful and lonely character with a boatload of issues, not the demon he’s sometimes made out to be.

Nope, sorry. Not buying into it about poor Blake. He fucked Amy about, and was bad news from square one. Then when he had totally ruined her, he moved on to his next victim and did the same tit. And added a kiddie to the mix that time He is a waster, and never has dealt with any of his own problems and has projected them onto everyone else he can.
Everyone has problems, its how they work through them and deal with them that counts. There were many factors with Amy, of course-not even mentioning the eating disorder too. But Blake? bleeping waste of carbon. STILL.

BIB: but it wasn’t pre-Blake, when he broke up with her and went back to his other girlfriend was when she really went off the rails, Amy said this herself. She also said the turning point for her was when she started writing the album Back to Black, writing those songs helped her feel better and she then “had something good out of something bad”.

She had another boyfriend and was doing well, Back to Black was really taking off… then guess who comes crawling back. I wish Amy had have been stronger; Blake said in an interview around that time “it’s taken tenacity and bleeping perseverance, but there was no way we were never going to be together” - funny how his feelings changed when he seen her growing success, fame and money.

Blake introduced her to crack and heroin right after they got back from America married, she had never done either before. I really feel that he waited til after they were married to do this so they were more tied together in a sense, as he had already used before.

Despite her talent she clearly had severe self esteem issues her whole life, which unfortunately made her more prone to addiction and easy prey for people like Blake, and ultimately her dad in a different way too, sadly.

Oh I don’t think it was necessary to wait for Amy to be tied to him. It was obvious from her personality that she’d be all over hard drugs like a woman on chips as soon as she tried them. Living in Camden after the millennium, if it hadn’t been Blake who’d introduced her to it, it would’ve been someone else. It was as freely available in Camden as a bag of crisps in those days.

I watched that arena doc where she went to Dingle the other day and she seems to talk of her Brother quite fondly. However never remember seeing him or hearing about him when she was at the height of fame. Actually thought she was an only child.

I remember her telling a story of him finding her on the kitchen floor after a breakup. Which made it into You Know I'm Good.

But also I'm not sure if I made that up 😆

I don’t think Blake can be held accountable entirely- Amy wasn’t held down by him and pumped full of drugs, she made a choice. Also, her dad is a bleeping waste of space and probably the cause of a lot of her problems.

Ultimately, if she had good people around her she probably would have been in a better place, I’m sure.

I remember the day she died so clearly- friends of mine work for newspapers and before the news was official they were texting me saying she had died. And then it was all over the news an hour later. Poor Amy.

What was Blake’s childhood like?

Whilst there is no doubt that her relationship with Blake was really toxic I blame her father for a lot of what happened. I think he is a huge part of why she was such a vulnerable, damaged, adult. I think the man is vile.
I still recall seeing Amy’s father on the news the day she died , selling her vests to fans outside and bragging about it on sky news!!

oh he is for sure. He and Blake both have a lot to answer for.
also-I dont care if Blake was dragged up on an estate with a crack bleep mother, it doesnt excuse his behavior, and how damaging he was for Amy.
I will die on this hill.
