911/911 Lone Star - Disney Plus

Yeah I liked the funny/crazy rescues and fires they had to go to. Sometimes with a mystery element of it not being what you think. Although I will say the face blindness one this series was very emotional. It's strength has always been part rescue and part private life.

Also agree it's getting close to jumping the shark. Just up to date on D+ and the lost in the desert storyline was eye rolling.

I also love that the gay/bi characters in both 911s aren't stereotypes. Which is often the case. They are also 'alpha' men doing heroic stuff who happen to be gay/bi. They are also accepted and supported by colleagues and family. I think that's such an important message and gives people a different type of lgbtq+ person to look up to if you can't identify with other representation. 911 does so much right in representation, but they messed up bucks coming out.

Oh my god yes the Eddie stuff was so random I really didn’t like that storyline!

I wasn’t a fan of the cruise ship storyline or Bobbys storyline this season. It all felt a bit rushed as less episodes.

the bobby stuff was so poorly done! and made me mad because peter and angela acted the hell out of what they were given but it was so rushed (and peter himself basically said he thought the finale script was poor).

i know they had less episodes but you’d think that would have made them tighten things up pacing-wise. and not waste time on ridiculous storylines that they didn’t have time for (the eddie one was insane but COULD have worked if they’d been patient with it).

edit: also i will forever be mad that THAT is what they did for maddie and chimney’s wedding 🥲

oh yeah - since son told us he liked boys when he was 11 I have been hyper aware of representation - I love how things have changed over the years for the better (unless you're trans where things are going backwards). Mainstream characters being gay without resorting to stereotypes is great. Things like Heartstopper where the story is about love not the angst and 'misery' of being gay etc is wonderful.

But there is very little male bi representation on telly - women its quite common, but not with men. Nick Nelson and Buck both quite alpha males (my son is very not alpha) - we need more male bi characters generally though.

So basically, we all hated this season and they must do better 🤣

With lone star rumoured to be ending they really need to keep 911 on a good level

i think lone star is done :( which makes me sad (they just needed to get rid of owen!)

hopefully it will be back on track once they’re up to their usual episode quota and can retcon a few small things 🤞🏻 intrigues me that ryan g did an interview this week saying he needs to bulk up for filming (hopefully we’re getting some more street fighting eddie 🤣)

Have you or your son seen this? The lead singer is bi and I just think this is such a fun adaptation of the song.

oliver stark spoke so beautifully about it too and obviously wanted to do it with so much care that it’s a real shame that they botched it so much.

for those who might not have seen, this is a really long interview with him but he talks a lot about how bi representation is important and how much he wanted to do it right. shame he didn’t write the scripts 🤣

I know we aren't meant to pry but at same time, I wouldn't be shocked if oliver and buck have a lot in common

Lol not offended. I was joking and suggesting an option to test theory out🤣🤣

i read it back and was like 😬 at myself for how i phrased it 🤣 (and you know i’m always down to test theories with you mark! 💙)

Tracker on Disney plus is quite good for an easy watch. Plus Justin Hartley (and his shirtless scenes)

okay well there’s my weekend viewing sorted - justin hartley is 👌🏻

I'm confused, maybe I missed something. Last weeks episode there was a 911 call and mentioned a fire at the Nash house. Did I miss a time jump mention?

Ffs Nash and his drinking and guilt yet again, eddie and his grief again, Hen drama over adoption again.

But Bucks coming out was over within an episode.

I'd actually love Nash to leave the show tbh.
