IIRC comments along the lines of 'reasonably' (conversation vs pre-scripted).
(also of course German, from his previous job with the KGB in East Germany)
His English is perfect but he refuses to speak it as a matter of principle. It's kind of a flex tbh. Lionel Barber wrote about it in his memoir. Putin is also a concert level pianist apparently.

The Kremlin deny everything and have committed crimes against humanity which they deny. For example, bombing maternity hospitals. But it certainly comes to something when people aren’t sure whose credibility is more reliable - Trump’s or Putin’s.

In response to my original post about the “No way:Way” conversation it has just raised more questions now for me.
Was it
A. Putin and Trump are both big fans of Waynes World and this was a little joke between them
B. Trump exploited Putins lack of knowledge of WW to in fact make a banger of a 90s reference
or
C. This conversation never happened in the way reported

Apparently Putin doesn't use social media or Google (as he thinks they are decadent tools of the West's decline - he's not above having his agents use them to show dissension and hatred amongst us though) but he DOES like Western TV. Especially 1980s and 1990s TV shows - I think Friends might be one? So it is more than feasible that he would have gotten the WW reference, or at the very least appreciated and fully understood what Trump meant.

Insulting to women, men and anyone in a functional marriage, and clearly made by Democrats who apparently had never been within a 1000 miles of a Republican or undecided voter. It fills me with “joy cometh in the morning” that they lost when I see this kind of thing.

Haley and Mike Pompeo won’t be in the next administration. I can’t see how anyone could spin that as a bad thing.

Involving celebrities has never historically helped the democrats before and they were advised not to do it by their own advisors this time but they didn’t listen. The American public doesn’t feel that they are represented by celebrities in any way.
Hard agree. It’s easy to have 20/20 hindsight but ultimately getting endorsements from Taylor Swift/Beyonce/Cardi B is not gonna convince wavering voters to plump for Kamala. At best it’ll give already committed Dem supporters a warm fuzzy feeling. But it won’t cause floating voters to decide, and it won’t convert people who favour Trump. It’s actually pretty patronising to think that it would tbh. I mean I love Cardi B but I wouldn’t copy her political views just because it’s Cardi b. Does anyone normal do things because celebrities “tell” them to?
One of the many good things about UK politics is it still retains clear blue water between politics and celebrity. And when the two attempt to mix, it rarely works out. Russell Brand loudly endorsed Labour in 2015 and they still lost. Stormzy is 72 years old and Labour, likewise. And Eddie Izzard tried to stand for parliament and got his arse handed to him on a plate. Vorderman, most people just laugh at her I suspect. So, yeah. UK definitely has its head screwed on politically in this area.
