What do you want to rant about today? #25

In the grand scheme of things this is so petty but its driving me insane, why do all handwash bottles that have a pretty picture on the front and the writing on the back ALWAYS open so the spout is pointing backwards so to actually use it you have to have the writing facing out not the pretty picture! I've tried taking the lid off and putting it back on a turn further round but the only way it points forward is to have it on loose which is no good either, its making my Christmas handwashes look rubbish 🤣

I’ve been given some doxycycline and told to rest. Madness that you’re left for so long to just ride it out. I’ve had symptoms on and off since August and have rode it out but it keeps coming back so I’m definitely not getting rid of it.

Also, to the person who laughed at the previous post, hope you have a tit Christmas. Totally unnecessary 🖕
I had the worst cough in my life last year. Everyone around me getting antibiotics but I was told to ride it out too. Cough lasted around 5 weeks in the end 🙃

Yes this is driving me mad 🤣

People who explain things/ do things in a long winded way really irk me especially when it’s something straightforward at work. Im not sure if they just like the sound of their own voice and are trying to sound more important and smart or if they really do see it as more complicated than it is, and don’t see a simpler way to do/say things. Either way I’m not making my life harder just because you make yours that way

For the third year at Christmas Mr Renegade is ill. You know that man flu type, cue lots of groaning and lying under a blanket and can’t possibly do any hiring because they feel so rough. This means yet again I am doing all the running around. I was pissed off about it last year but this year is another level.

Job application portals!
A position is listed for Germany. Only Germany. The application portal asks whether I'm located in Germany - I am. They ask whether I need sponsoring now or at any time in the future in Germany.
Then they ask me to select my State. Which is a dropdown of US states. You cannot skip the field. There is no "none" or other "this doesn't apply to me" option. So apparently I now live in Alabama.

Companies - I get it, hiring is tiring, but please, take a look at your processes! This almost made me not apply because I seriously cannot stand it if people never check whether their internal processes are even working.

Undo it and get the spout the way you want it then tighten the collar whilst holding the spout. Usually works for me!.

I have a very cute hand wash from sainsburys in the shape of a gingerbread man that actually smells of nothing what so ever, when I read the label the scent is snow...so whilst rubbish, at least factually accurate.

Today was the first day in six weeks that I haven’t had to set an alarm. Been working a crazy amount of hours and I’m driving all day to collect daughter from uni.
I’ve been woken four times by that car alarm, twice by motorbike races, three times by police sirens, four times by slamming car doors and gave up at 7am when next door’s dog started his daily howling.
So much for a good night’s sleep and a nice lie in.

Do you live in New York?

Woo hoo! Result from my rant yesterday about my appointment being cancelled for the zillionth time! They rang me today regarding my strongly worded email and have apologised, and squeezed me in on the 27th December! Now I'm not holding my breath that they won't cancel this one as well, especially so close to Christmas! But the lady on the phone let slip that I'm down to be seen once every 12 months for a check up so they're very very behind on this, having cancelled every appointment I've had for nearly 2 years!

I'm so pissed off with my TV. Invested in a bigger one 5 years ago. A third of the screen went dark this year. Then I gets home tonight wanting to watch my digger video on You Tube, and there is no You Tube any more to click on!!!! 😩🤬
I had my last TV for 16 years, all the time being pressured by friends to get rid and get a new one. I could never understand why they kept buying a new TV every 3 years.
Then I got a Samsung and 3 years later I lost all the tabs I watched like You Tube. 🤬
Got my supermarket big TV and looks like this one gives you 5 years which is better than 3 years I suppose.😟
Someone said to get a projector TV....🤔😏

This happened to us with samsung, they just stop supporting the apps. We got around it by casting the videos from the YouTube app on our phones to the TV. Might be worth a try.

I've got the opposite moan about my tv. I had a years free disney+ but I couldn't get the app on my tv. It expired last month and then last week my tv done a software update and disney bloody plus is on it now. But I didn't manage to see the last 2 eps of station 19 so may restart the subscription for a month.

I am today writing Christmas cards for the neighbours and I don’t know the name of the baby next door. I’m stuck in a moral dilemma - do we just write “x, y and the baby” or “x, y and little man” etc or just not send a card? 😭
Omg I do this we have a biker couple two doors down can't remember their names .so waiting see if they send a card first then I will send one back 😂

OMG yes. I actually actively stay away from any company that uses Workday as part of their recruitment process as its a fecking nightmare. Its American and does not take all kinds into account. I have had to select states, had my Uni not recognised, my fields of degree study not recognised and even been asked for my grade point average or SAT scores.

🙄 🙄 :cautious:

TBH I spend a lot of time in NYC and its a lot quieter than my West London town. You hardly EVER hear sirens compared to our local nr town centre home

Work is relentless.
Normally at this time of year I'm going to Christmas lunches, clearing emails, easing down gently to the holidays.
Not this year, I'm off from Friday (until 30 Dec) but I honestly feel like I've got a weeks worth of work to complete before then. I've got 5 more Teams meetings, an internal review to put together a response and action plan for (and get that agreed by 1 group and signed off by another) plus another massive ongoing review where I'm setting tasks for about 30 people, half of whom haven't updated me or made any progress.
Also when I'm back on 30th I've got a whole load of end of month docs to prepare. This is why I never take time off!*

*I would delegate, except there is no one to delegate it to!
