What do you want to rant about today? #25

Work. Again.

I'm having to deal with a right pompous prat at the moment. He's basically been highly critical of our business practices (which don't deserve criticism we actually do pretty well with the resources available) and said amongst other things that we need a report that does X and Y.

When I said we don't have that report, the patronising twit went 'oh I've created one, it's easy' speaking to me like I'm some thicko (which I very much am not. He clearly thinks I'm the bloody admin assistant when actually I'm a qualified lawyer. bleeping hole).

It's men working with diggers, trucks and cute things which I think are called telehandlers.
When I was growing up I always wanted to do something mechanical, but unfortunately girls weren't allowed in those days.
So I got really into watching D and J Projects on You Tube. How the company evolved. The mechanical things like diggers, trucks etc they bought and how they used them. The staff which is like a big family.
Then I also liked watching diggers and telehandlers in a different way where a bloke who was a gardener decided to restore a burned down chateau and revive the overgrown grounds. Everyone including me thought he was off his rocker but we're having to swallow our tonsils. His subscribers have boomed from a few thousand to half a million so it's not just me who's addicted.
I would love my own little telehandler to go tootling around in picking stuff up.
And years later I feel like I got a bit of retribution when my sister had to be dragged out of my house at 1 am in the morning cos I showed her a few episodes of D and J Projects and she was hooked. All the while my brother in law was chuntering on about it being crap. (Obviously felt his manhood being threatened). I had a massive cackle about it. 😄

Get yourself round here, my husband has all these machines. When he comes home with them unannounced I could literally murder him!! He was looking to buy a dumper truck for me to drive about last week, he’s off his rocker, but it makes him happy 🤣

I was involved in an accident last Thursday (not my doing) and have got a dreadful eye and cheek that are really black. Every time I went out shopping I get comments from people I don't know - oh - hubby punched you - not funny. I now go shopping at 8 am
My husband died at the end of September and he would never have punched me but why do people make these comments.
Thank you all for your love 💓 Online people make me thankful.

I've just taken my son to school. 4 different parents stopped to tell his teacher that their child wasn't feeling well, and could she ring them if they felt worse. One girl was sobbing and looked awful.

Why are people so stupid?? Instead of sending your kid to school, to feel like tit all day, and spread their germs to everyone else just in time for Christmas, how about you keep them off?
Oh this was my absolute pet hate when I worked in childcare! Week before Christmas especially, the kids were always ill but their parents would bring them in dosed up on Calpol and tell us if they weren't well too call them and they'd pick them up. Usually though they weren't going into work, they'd be having the day off to do last minute shopping so you know full well they'd be miles away and have no intention of picking up early. In fact, these were the days they picked up later than usual!

Funnily enough, I saw the Mum of the crying girl in Morrisons an hour later. She didn't even look like she was buying anything important, just mooching around with a hand basket.

Lawyers IMO are often the most patronising twats.. I've worked in a few legal departments and firms and in my last legal role some of the other pas kept telling me they worked yrs with some old school pompous self centred git who never bothered to learn their names and called his PA the admin..

I think he should be glad he'd left by the time i came along cos i'd have had none of that and would have gone around referring to him as the lawyer

School has that attendance tit now don't they where you have to explain everyday off and if below a percentage you get an arsey later etc my work colleague at work sends her kid to school even though she knows he's ill because he's already had time off and schools moaned.

Yes! I should start my rant about attendance awards. My kids' primary schools didn't do it but my eldest is now in a SPECIAL school and they give awards for monthly 100% and then term 100% gets the kids a free pizza. I get that they probably have kids for whom attendance is a major issue but my kid has medical needs arising from their disability so will never get 100%. And it also puts him at risk of others come in sick. 😡

UPS what a useless bunch they are. Sent a parcel on Monday they only shipped it this morning and have no idea if it will be delivered. It could be turned back at UK customs. I was forced to pay extra customs charges aswell. I could have flown over and back for cheaper than what I paid. And I still dont know if it will ever arrive. Customer service is appaling.

Its just counterproductive because the more kids that go in ill, the more will get ill and need to be off.

My grandchildren are all unwell thanks to other kids going into school this week with streaming colds. It's the first time off my poor daughter has had from uni/ward placements and she was so looking forward to the break - now she's nursing 4 kids at home instead with rough colds and fevers. I feel so sorry for her, she was a bit tearful and overwhelmed last night and she's having to try and sell the pantomine/festival of light tickets she'd booked as a treat over the coming days.

If this behavior isn't challenged it will become established like so many other things that have been pawned off on the schools and nurseries. They'll expect a fully staffed sick ward with overnight care.

Who actually gives a tit about snotty letters from school about attendance? If your child is genuinely ill through the year and you keep them off then you’ve nothing to worry about or justify. I’ve never sent mine to school while they were poorly, it’s so unfair in the other kids and the staff too.

My nephew was off quite a bit last school year due to illness and my sister had a letter and was called in to see the EA at the school. She went in and said he was ill what did they expect her to do and that was that.

I was in a supermarket the other night and a girl about 7/8 was walking about with her parents with an absolutely barking cough. Her parents had to tell her to cover her mouth. I could see the vapour in the air and landing on me. Why didn’t one of them wait in the car with her?! 🫠

I don't remember my parents getting letters but I remember the calls. Including the one where I'd had surgery and needed 3 weeks off to recover. My parents sent a letter in explaining that. Despite that, they got a call every week until I returned.

I then got a telling off for my absence. I do apologise for spending 3 weeks with a hole on my spine after needing a cyst drained.
