I seem to work for the only company in retail who are cutting everyone back to contracted hours in the run-up to Christmas, rather than asking people to do overtime.

But it's OK, there will be extra eventually...but it'll be last minute and will basically be offered as "can you stay an extra couple of hours" half an hour before you're due to finish. Because that's really convenient for everyone.
 
In Sainsbury’s 10.45 they announced the 2 mins of silent will happen in 15 mins and again at 10.55 then 11…. Eveyone stood still…. A lady was walking round in her phone pushing her baby!
 
Customers who will literally go out of their way to write in and whinge. We've had a email round bitching that we need to play customer friendly music because someone in one of the shop's has had the radio on, no idea who and that is stupid tbh, but can you imagine actually making it a point as a customer to write in to moan about that? Why the duck do you care? Honestly have a day off. If I heard a song I didn't think was appropriate I'd do literally nothing, or at best ask the assistant to change it. People will write in about anything tiny thing that pisses them off, but slim to noone writes in about the good stuff. We can be lovely 99.99999999% of the time and hear nothing back, but a customer is dissatisfied once and you can be damn sure you'll be hearing about it from your manager.

Visiting FIL today.
he still can’t feel one side of this body and his speech is super slurred and they haven’t got him out of bed since he went in, the physio never turned up.
I know the staff will be overworked and understaffed and underpaid, just makes me hate the way things are in the world.
Fiancé insistent on still going on holiday although at this point I don’t think we could do anything to cancel without loosing most/all of the money. He’s heartbroken and I’m trying to be the strong one but normally it’s the over way around. I’m an emotional wreck about everything but I’m trying to keep it together. just feel useless.

loads of people local to me have put their trees up over the weekend.. WHY??? its way too early for a xmas tree to be put up.

I always say that I don’t want to be signed up to their mailing list and that magically produces a paper receipt. The only reason they want your email address is so they can spam you forever and a day.

I’m just not going to shop in there again. I’m sick to death of my very basic and simple name being misspelt despite me spelling it out to them. If I do need anything I’ll go online.

this has just reminded me of a recent gripe - people who cant get my name right. I do not have a difficult name but lately i keep getting called Lynn or Linda. My name is not either of these names.
 
my husband! just back from physio with my son. husband asking about it and then says can i make a suggestion! i knew what was coming so i said no you bleeping can not! i don’t want to hear how your physio is great and how i should have made an appointment with your physio! i didn’t see you rushing to make an appointment for our child but now that i’ve taken him and he has a follow up appointment your full of suggestions.
like duck right off! either take initiative or piss off!

Unstable is the word.

He has always been such a sweet, rational, even-tempered man in my presence, so for him to crash and burn his own job and everything between us in one day has been shocking.

I think this is why he was giving so many mixed signals, like coming in strong then withdrawing. He's obviously all over the place, but was very good at hiding it until now.

Me, I'm feeling ill and just trying to piece myself together. Today I'm aiming to shower and send in the court form and have something to eat.

It is shocking but it’s best you see it now rather than in say a years time.

If you can even have something small to eat it’s a little win.

I don't have a difficult to spell name. So many people get it wrong even when it's right in front of them. Since when did an a look like an e?

my name is an absolute nightmare to spell (and fairly unusual) so i hate standing there having to spell it multiple times 🤣 and even then they never take it right, i’ve never successfully had a receipt from there! i hate being blunt with shop assistants but i’ve started just saying i’m not comfortable giving my email so either i’ll have a paper receipt or not one at all 🫣

i keep meaning to, like said above, start a throwaway email address for them but i’m also very petty and begrudge doing it 🤣

Not the staffs fault and any lurking supervisor can't get round that - short of calling me a liar. 😉
