Wavy / curly hair products, styling tips etc! 🌀

I’ve finally had my hair cut but a curly hair hairdresser.
I’ve noticed strands on the top are still staying straight, even if I used the diffuser 😫 so I end up tonging them to curl them. How do I train them to curl?!

How long are they? Have you been straitening and/or using heat (even with a diffuser) much before your cut?

Give your curls time to ease into their natural pattern. Tonging will just send them even more off their normal shape. Maybe use a gentle wax, pomade or cream to smooth them in the meantime.

I’ve not used straighteners for years, I tend to just dry it roughly with the hairdryer and then let it air dry. It’s stands on the top of my hair (as opposed to the underneath 🤣) so more noticeable when the rest is curly/wavy.

Try finger curling / pinning whilst damp?
Yes I tired that with an aveda curl creme last night and gently cupped them when drying and they still ended up straight with a flick on the end.

Hi, can anyone recommend any products for my daughter, (she's 4.5) her hair is like the photo I've attached :) .. if I brush it, it goes crazy and looks like I've not touched it. She starts school in September and hates wearing a bobble etc but I want it to look abit better! Anyone got any products I can try please? X

It is hard to tell from the photo, but when I was little I used to get my hair sprayed with a bit of conditioner in some water to make it look less fluffy before being combed and twisted, but think you could just lightly scrunch it. Only Curls have just brought out a range for children, not tried it but I like their main range stuff

I'll have a look, thank you! I'm new to this curly hair thing she's got going on lol

Are you brushing it while it’s dry? Try only brushing when wet, you can get a spray bottle to dampen it so it doesn’t have to be a whole shower/bath situation. What brush are you using? Tangle teezers are good but go gently.

Agreed twisting and scrunching lightly will help it take shape while damp. It’s gorgeous!

Me again. Went to bed with slightly damp hair after diffusing it. Curls looked 👍🏻. Woke up this morning and it’s lost its curl and I’ve got annoying straight clumps again!!
I always assumed going to bed with it in a loose, silk bobble would pull the curls out/come out in my sleep (I toss and turn) and how do your curls not get crushed in a bonnet. I wash it the night before, never a morning, as it would take too long to dry and I don’t like going out with slightly damp hair.

Are those continuous mist spray bottles any good for refreshing?
Jesus. You would never think I’d have curly hair for all my 30 odd years 🤣🤦🏼‍♀️

I'm a morning hair washer but at night I sleep with it in stupidly high bun and my curls are pretty good the next morning. My hair takes ages to diffuse but I just have to accept it and make time in the morning. The mist spray bottles are good but with the time it all takes you're sometimes quicker just washing and styling your hair as normal 🤷‍♀️

I have long hair so put it in on top of my head in a silk scrunchy, then do a loose bun and clip with mini jaw clip things, sleep on a silk pillowcase and is fine for a few days, I then dampen with a mister bottle and scrunch diffuse to get about 5-6 days out of it

I used the noughty hello curl shampoo, conditioner and gel a while ago and then reverted back to my cheapy stuff. My hair hasn't been great so when I saw that noughty was half price online with Boots I bought 3 of each. Washed my hair this morning and what a difference, definitely not going back to cheap tit again.
Sadly not on half price offer now but I highly recommend people keep an eye on it and buy next time as it worked out at under £4 for each product which is a bargain for something that works well.

Hi everyone! How do I work out what my curl pattern is? I'm thinking I'm maybe a 2b or 2c?
Here is a pic of my hair wet before brushing it (brushed it in the shower when I put in conditioner) and the second picture is after I've brushed it. If I leave it to air dry it will go quite wavy but will only look nice for a day before I resemble Hagrid. I usually do heatless curls but do find my hair is prone to frizz unless I blow dry and straighten it.

I think it’s quite hard to tell when hair is wet so probably best to go by how it looks once it’s dried naturally!
