What happens if you gently scrunch dry and then leave to air dry indoors? No product. What wash/conditioner are you using?
I use cheap shampoo and conditioner from Savers. The things that have made a difference to me are plopping using a long sleeve T shirt and rinsing my hair upside down so from the back of my neck forward. I've also started combing conditioner through my hair the same way. I then apply noughties curl gel, wrap in the T shirt, leave for 5 to 10 mins, take T shirt off and scrunch hair while it's hanging upside down a couple of times and that's it.I’m using Aussie curl stuff. If I scrunch I get curls/waves but they’re very messy not defined at all. My hair definitely isn’t straight, if I do nothing to it at all it will dry with kinks/waves but it’s very fine and just ends up looking scruffy! I recently had it cut but I don’t think that’s helped as it’s now about chin length and I think the ‘natural, wavy relaxed’ look is better on longer hair.
I think scruffy is the best way to describe it. It just looks like I’ve done nothing to it at all, or like I’ve rolled out of bed looking a mess!
Is Aussie CGM? Does it have anything ending in -one in it? If so that’ll be silicone and will stop your hair being able to absorb moisture ingredients over the long term.
I’d recommend using as little as possible of a CGM approved wash routine, drying suuuuper gently with a microfiber towel and then taking a curl crème through with your fingers.
What brushes are you using?
Thanks! It’s their curly range and there’s no silicones listed in the ingredients! I’ve not been using a brush, just attempting to use a wide tooth comb or my fingers.
Hi everyone. I have recently started embracing my curls again. My hair is extremely thick, long & is prone to frizz & also my scalp goes through periods of being really dry & just yuck can anyone recommend any good safe shampoo & conditioner that will help with all of the above please? Thanks xx
I use a little bit of gel mixed with water, in a spray bottle in the morning the scrunch it and clip it up in a big claw clip. By the time I want to go somewhere it's dried and the waves are restored. My waves are always frizzy though, I've come to accept it's part of my "look"I used a humidity spray last night when I washed my hair, but this morning when I was getting ready, I got really hot as it’s warm today and my hair got sweaty. It’s long, fine, but I have a lot of it. It went limp and the curls disappeared and it went frizzy. How can I avoid this I’m trying to embrace my natural curls.
Thank you! I’ll look into thisI wear a Buff tubular as found the bonnets too hot and didn’t like the forehead mark they gave me. I use the Buff like an eye mask too
I wear a silk bonnet! I personally prefer it from a sensory perspective, I know some people who put their hair up in a pineapple or whatever but I don't like how it feels.Do any of you wear bonnets or some sort of protection for your curls at night?

I use a silk scrunchie to tie my hair into a pineapple style on the 1st and 2nd night after washing. Does a great job at protecting my waves/curls.
Sorry if there’s already a thread on this!
I’m wanting to embrace my natural wave more and I’m at a loss where to start with products! I’ve religiously straightened my hair since I was 12 but I’m wanting to wear my natural hair more now. I’ve attached a pic as I’m not sure what type my waves are (I think 2c?!)
I’d like a product that gets rid of the ‘bulk’ and defines the waves more, rather than me looking like Hagrid
