unpopular opinion; teaches, nurses etc aren’t angels in society doing heavenly work. They are just normal people doing a job, and some of them are horrible.

a lot of teachers I’ve met (as an adult), are definitely on a power trip. A lot of the girls I knew who went into teaching did it because they wanted the stability of a long term job, they were keen to settle down ASAP and have kids and teaching they felt was compatible with that. They weren’t especially passionate about teaching or educating children. It was convenient.

anoher girl I knew who went into teaching, liked children well enough. But she was super OCD and controlling - she had a bad start in life and had a lot of problems as an individual. She wasn’t unkind to children but she definitely love the control and power she had over her little domain, aka the classroom.

obvs there are lots of great teachers out there too
but it’s a career that will definitely attract savoury and damaged characters.

I’ve worked with LD adults in social care for 14 years and I’ve seen some amazing care staff and support workers who go above and beyond and some who loved the power and control over disabled people. If anyone reported bullying, it wasn’t dealt with and just swept under the carpet. The bullies got away with it because they were friends with management.

And on the subject of lazy teachers
bleeping set teenagers PROPER homework like reading a book chapter and handwriting answers to questions. Jesus
I swear secondary school homework consists of some computer generated quiz on GCSE POD or Mathswatch. The teacher does feck all nowadays and as a result we have illiterate teenagers glued to a screen doing ‘homework’ in five minutes because they can google the answers!!!!!!

Dubai seems like an absolute hell hole and I done understand influencers obsession with it. It’s the literal embodiment of tacky nouveu riche.

it’s literally built on slavery.
It has no real meaningful history or culture to make it attractive
It’s often way too hot
It doesn’t have nice architeture
It has stringent rules against all things fun which it seems it enforces at random and hypocritically

It’s literally just buying tat, wearing bikinis and showing off (usually non existent) wealth. It’s horrible, shallow and I don’t know how it has such a large following of people willing to travel there, never mind live there
I personally know a lot of (very popular) Instagram influencers who live in Dubai, and you are absolutely correct. Every single post is fake, manipulated, photoshopped and grossly exaggerated. These ppl I know come from a very humble background lol. The wealthy in Dubai exploit poor labourers from South Asia and Africa, it’s absolutely disgusting and why the UN haven’t addressed it goes to show about how much corruption is in this world

Parts of the NHS have been privatised for years. I don't think we should be afraid of it. There are countries who'd consider themselves to be very liberal who have highly efficient systems that are a mixture of public and private and it works.

I don’t think it works for the U.K. in the areas that have been privatised though.

inknow a couple who have become filthy rich running a care worker agency. The NHS outsource the work to them, they recruit care workers and send them out to elderly patients.

they don’t do proper due diligence checks on the staff so god knows who they are sending into vulnerable peoples’ homes

they pay the staff a pittance, they give them too many patients so basically the staff havenot enough time allocated. The result is either the care isn’t done properly or the staff member does unpaid overtime. Usually the latter. The company banks on the goodwill and empathy, that these care workers don’t have the heart to leave old people unattended.

the couple running this take a HUGE cut. They drive around in range rovers. All at the expense of the NHS.

then there’s locuming. Contracts are so piss poor that doctors and nurses go locum, meaning they charge close to double for emergency rosters when a hospital is short staffed. Hospitals are paying double for their own staff essentially when, if they had better contracts in place initially with better terms, these people probably wouldn’t have chosen to locum.

New York is terrible, it’s filthy, people are constantly rushing, it smells horrible and i just felt genuinely uneasy every time I have been there, I never felt that way in any big city I have visited.

You either love New York or hate it!

I was so disappointed after building it up in my mind my whole life. It actually made me question whether I like city breaks or not but Belfast and Edinburgh made me realise that city breaks are fab it really was just NYC that sucked.

I’m all for personal achievements, being active etc but the people who turn their marathon running /triathlon training into a cornerstone of their personality (you know the ones) can do one.

Also I’ve noticed it’s popular amongst middle aged middle class men with small children. How convenient you have found a ‘hobby’ that not only you can boast about on LinkedIn but also means you need to constantly be away from home for hours at a time under the guise of your physical & mental health 🤨
Yes! I work in construction and the amount of men who slip in that they are training for a marathon. Like it’s a measure of masculinity 🤷🏼‍♀️

It’s the fact everything is so dirty and everyone is so busy and rude to even be slightly bit courteous after nearly knocking you flying after rushing into you. Also the price of everything put me off, I’m not mean or greedy with money but I was shocked by the price of upper class restaurants, like I got a paella that was super shallow for like 35 dollars but going into ethnic and Hispanic restaurants and takeaways was great though and the food in them was fantastic.

having a new build isn’t a status symbol though? Most people turn their nose up at them because they lack character, cheaply made and poor value for money etc

new builds are cheaper because there are government incentives to buy them. It’s harder to buy a period property.

Loads of people are obsessed with having new builds, especially influencers and most people on social media. But doesn't have to be a period property either. Nothing wrong with a standard housing estate. Round my way there is quite literally years waiting lists to buy on new build estates where the cheapest 1 bed flat is £300k, it's just madness!

A couple more of mine: I love tall glass buildings and don't find them at all ugly

Some people who claim to have food intolerances actually just dislike feeling full or aren't used to it, and complain about "bloating." I've known a few of these - some of whom had gone to multiple doctors that couldn't find any sign of intolerances, but then they paid scam companies a fortune to tell them they can't tolerate wheat, gluten, dairy, etc. I've had an eating disorder and I know an unhealthy attitude to food when I see it

Too many women believe in ridiculous, unscientific myths that young girls shouldn't use tampons because it's somehow a form of sexual activity (no, you can't "lose your virginity" by using a tampon!) or "dirty" or "inappropriate". This is harmful and it needs to stop. By all means make girls aware that tampons carry the risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome and are bad for the environment, but there is no ethical or scientific reason why tampons should be only for adult women or women who have had children
