I don't understand the concept of company loyalty in this day and age.

In past generations you'd stay with a company because they "treated you well" etc and job hopping was frowned upon.

But now it seems companies will get rid of you with a moment's notice because of "business needs" and that's just how it is. They don't care if you have bills to pay and will give you the bare minimum that they are legally obliged to. It doesn't matter if you worked overtime for nothing / checked your emails at weekends to make sure things get done.

So now if you want to leave a company because another offers more money / better benefits then do it. People need to be more discerning with their career opportunities. Doesn't matter how you look from the outside. You do what's best for you because you can bet a company would not give you a second thought if they were in trouble.

It's a well known fact his wife is his beard. They have adopted kids. Whatever works for them I suppose even 5 years ago or probably even now to come out in Hollywood is career suicide.

I know Bradley cooper is another one. He has a daughter with a model or actress or someone who he had a contract with. Apparently she wasn't best pleased that he didn't want to renew the contract and have another kids together

At our company, all below supervisor level are agency staff and can get laid off at a moment's notice.

Agreed. I have a former classmate who's quite nice. However, she's a Jehovah's Witness and she offers me one of their Watchtower magazines everytime we meet. Come on, aren't there any other topics in life apart from that? I felt like I had a snack with a snake oil saleswoman, FFS 🤦‍♀️.

I worked with a JW and her 21yo son came out as gay. He was cast out and she, his dad and siblings haven't had any contact for over a decade. She told me as far as she was concerned, she never had a son. The man is fine, he's married and happy but I can't imagine doing anything so heartless to one of my kids.

Agreed. Also (and this may be very unpopular but I strongly feel it) a self diagnosis of autism is no more valid than a self diagnosis of schizophrenia or bipolar. I am very tired of people declaring that they are autisitc with no formal diagnosis, and then going on and on about 'neurotypicals'. It is as if they think being autistic makes them cool. I bet that most of them are neurotypical, they just have a few quirks and are desperate for an identity.

Yeah I work with a JW girl and her and her family cast out her sister because she married a non JW and had a child with him and didn’t want to raise him with the ‘religion’. No other religion is like this, mabye other than some Islamic families (depending on how devout they are.)
