Ungraceful Guide

I hate the way they are so derogatory towards Ireland. Yet when they needed a safe haven for their child to be born safely with free health care and to collect the dole for a year before ‘legging it out of here’, it was fine.
Couldn't agree more
They now come across as very smug and really only show the best parts of were they travel to
You never see a toddler tantrum or the real stress if travelling with a toddler

They seem to hate ireland but as uou said it was a nice free place ro birth a child

Why on earth would anyone film a toddler tantrum and put it on insta? And why would anyone want them to?

They consistently hate on Ireland. The are always comparing the culture of other countries to Ireland when it’s not like for like.
The recent health check they did in Mexico is prime example they were saying how unbelievable it was if not in comparison to Ireland then what?
The over why she over emphasises Latin America over using South America is pure notions, they are tourists from Europe not indigenous to the continent.

I agree, I like them but they do give a few digs about Ireland (which is OK, plenty to complain about here atm health system, housing etc 100%) but they did come running back during covid and it was good enough to have their lovely baby so you can't have it every way.

Tbf I don't think it would be OK to film a toddler tantrum but I suppose it can't be all rainbows travelling with a little toddler so maybe people would be interested to hear a little about the more challenging times that all parents experience with their small children and how katie and luke navigate that with Cora.

Yeah and the only reason they can travel around so easily in the first place is cos they were born in Ireland ~ passport privilege and high incomes relative to other countries etc.

It's funny cos when people compare healthcare or other services etc. to Ireland... do they realise the workers are being paid next to nothing?

Yup it would be interesting to hear some of the practicalities involved with travelling with a young child.

I don't think they hate on Ireland. I think they point out how crappy our healthcare system is. They're touring the world from a place of extreme privilege and I don't think they speak about that enough- they have a steady income and in poorer parts of the world their income would be enormous compared to the cost of living. That health screening they got in Mexico (?) was amazing, you'd be waiting years on the public system here for anything. They're EXTREMELY frugal, fair fecks to them, there's not a hope I could do it 🤣 I don't think they'd ever show Cora on a bad day but I'm sure she has them!

I presume if any major health issue had been flagged in those test they would have returned to Ireland.

My point is more the health system the accessed in Mexico was private health care not the public health system, it only seems cheap relative to an Irish budget.

They are not exactly touring the world, more like wandering around the markets of Mexico. How are they not board of walking around and seeing the same stuff over and over. Every day seems to be the same from what they show, walk around look at markets eat the same stuff go into a church, rub a cat or a dog, and repeat.

I suppose no more than ourselves get up, go to work, come home, go to bed.. 😂 Rinse and repeat for the next 30 years (if we are lucky). In all seriousness I couldnt cope living like them, well maybe for a year but then like you say its much the same.

I suppose it's that they are being more immersive. They seem to be working a lot more (ie not on socials) and exploring a lot less. Pre-Covid and pre-Cora they seemed to travel so much more and it was really interesting trips, you actually learned so much from watching them. I suppose with Cora they can't just uproot and travel about every few days, go on treks etc.

It’s actually gas seeing both sides of this. I’m in no means sticking up for ‘slating ireland’ (I live here myself) but I definitely don’t think they are dissing Ireland. I haven’t drank in 10+ weeks and I’ve felt so so so good and could probably relate to Katie and Luke. But this weekend i decided’one or two’ won’t do any harm. But yet here I am talking shite 😩😩 I applaud what they are doing for Cora and themselves but it’s hard for Irish people to accept what they’re doing. That’s where the jealousy comes in.
